Yuyu Hakusho was so bright and upbeat in its tone often time in scenes where Botan, Keiko, Koenma, Kuwabara, and Yusuke were messing around but many of the fights were so hardcore I was often on the edge of my seat. Heres hoping Hunter x Hunter 2011 will deliver!Hunter x Hunter - Page 14

The reboot takes a few creative liberties. It covers in 8 episodes what took 13 in the original series. They cut out all of the filler, arguably returning it closer to the manga, but they also removed a few of the character development subplots and creatively altered content (like merging two hunter exam tasks into one). I do think the pacing is better in the reboot, though, and it still tries to capture the spirit of the manga. Either way, you won't lose much by watching one over the other. Both are worthy of being called Hunter x Hunter.

I was more just curious as to how they stacked up against each other. Edit: 500th post Dragoon!

The first anime's portrayal of Killua was entirely wrong. Togashi presented him as a fun-seeking child who just wanted to make friends, only he struggled at times with his own dark tendencies and past. The anime turned him into a darker, kept-to-himself character entirely. This may have changed, but it bothered me so much I stopped watching it.

Then we have the new voice actors. I know there is a certain degree of personal preference, but I've seen tons of people share the same thoughts with me. Some voices just doesn't fit in as well as the original. Gon (10 times girlier) and Hisoka (lots of people loves the old Hisoka voice) sticks out like a sore thumb for me. The pacing is also a bit too fast as some of you already mentioned. Whatever their reason is, they've cut too much in the last two episodes. The new flying shuttle episode to me is just a forgettable experience. I hope they don't butcher any of the main fights in the new series. That, we'll have to wait and see.

Modern animation is more clean where as the old HxH had a pretty gritty design. That said i also don't like the new HxH when compared to the brilliant first animation.

i do hope though that later on they incorporate the darker theme, it was just the animation that made the tone of the show darker but rather the whole plot behind it D: at least that's what i think

I'm not the biggest fan of this power (and the constant +1 to Killua's family every little while) but I do like that we are finally getting some action. The storyline at least is good. I'm kind of curious how the vice chairman story will play out. He decent seem like an outright evil dude... just an asshole pretty much. Makes it weird to have him be the antagonist if you can put it that way.

Kaito wasn't eaten by the queen, his body got turn into a puppet so why does the baby ant left over inside the queen corpse when she die has Kaito's memory? shit doesn't make sense. and fuck gin, this while ordeal where Gon is all fucked up is originally his fault. Fucker made the spell "accompany" to go to kaito because he's shy about meeting friends of Gon. I too am looking forward to see hisako in action, because he always mind fuck the other guy during a battle. He was the one whooped Raizor's ass too, Gon's best shot wasn't enough. The Chairman's supersonic speed materialization nen was all direct damage which wasn't enough to penetrate the ant king's aura, then why didn't he set up a fucking rose nuke near that tomb where he led the king to? and have that Glass guy open up a portal so when it explodes he just take cover inside the portal. Could it be that he's too arrogant about his ability and rather die trying and fight honorably? But he ended up going the coward's way out by blowing the king up after he lost anyways.

Yes, lol I too am looking forward to see hisako in action, because he always mind fuck the other guy during a battle. He was the one whooped Raizor's ass too, Gon's best shot wasn't enough. I guess you could say that, but it's not like Hisoka was needed since Gon "won" after he fainted since he would have dodged the ball and the ball would have gone out, giving his team the win anyways. Still cool what Hisoka did. Exterminating the dangerous ant king was his mission, but fighting the supremely strong ant was his personal desire. The method they set up lets him go all out against the king and still have an ace in the event he dies. After his super buddha mouthbeam thingy he was on the verge of death anyways.
