Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |
Well if Merl was still around I'm sure he would of had something to say. My guess is that people who were open bigots didn't generally last long (outside of some white power militias). The biker gang club probably would of had something to say also.
It's been different seeing gay relationships in so many top rated shows lately.
An important part of open bigotry is the condition that the person you are discriminating against can't just hit you in the head with a pipe or something without life in prison or being killed themselves. Without police or a criminal justice system discrimination gets settled on the street. Bigots talk a big game but they rarely can back it up.

You know what I think it is? People just have better scape goats. When everything is all peachy who do the bible thumpers tend to blame- "deviants". With walker/biter/skin eater/roamer/dead ones out there, people tend to have a very clear and visible antagonist and find less need to look for fellow humans to blame. Unless they start to blame gay people for the zombie plague which would be the most hilarious plot twist ever.

I expect filler for the rest of the season with the rumors of who the villain is. I just hope they go outside the town once in a while, or least go out on patrol.

What? It was just two people loving each other? No stereotypes right there.

No, it was two people PDAing on an over-the-top level. The stereotype is that gay people want to display their homosexually at all times as obviously as possible in front of other people just to make it clear that they are very gay, and that they have effeminate personalities. Do you think a show like this would make characters with personalities such as Darryl or Tyresse gay?

So.... Where were these PDA complaints when Glen and Maggie were reunited in the tunnel? Their hug/kiss went a LOT longer than Aaron/Eric's

Believe me it had me cringing like fuck. That too was way overdone in an attempt to make Asian computer nerd fans believe that skinny Asian losers with no game can get white chicks.

In a post apocalyptic hell there's not a lot of competition bro, take what you can get.

Some dark secret like with the Governor? Is it abandoned except for Aaron and Eric? Some barbaric social system? Will it be overrun?
Trap seems like it means they need Rick's group to fight off another group of humans. He focused a lot on how good they all were at fighting/killing, said he knew good people and bad people (and that Rick's group was good people), and when he was asked about the people of the community, he always avoided giving a straight answer.
So my guess is their group is surviving due to big ass walls/supplies, but their actual fighting ability is shit/small, and another group of people are a looming threat to them. Or they just recently lost most of them.
They already sacrificed more supplies to Rick's group than they had, cannibals wouldn't have normal food, can't be abandoned cause we heard kids (and the guy talked about another member), and social system/governor doesn't make much sense. I do think it's going to be a mostly empty place though.

It's funny how an episode with ANYTHING happening at all seems like emmy-award winning stuff compared to recent episodes.
Also, I haven't read the comics at all, but I have a sneaking suspicion CORAL is going to lose his shit and start stabbing people.

I'm a little late here, but 2 episodes ago (ep 10), there's a scene where Sasha is going nuts and engages the Walkers while they're meant to be pushing them under the bridge. Whilst slashing a Walker across the throat, she then slices into Abraham's arm. Now I can handle a lot of silly things with the Walking Dead, for example the fact no one ever cleans their weapons or their bodies when splattered with gore. But if blood directly sliced into your skin doesn't infect you, then what does? I mean a bite can infect, but blood can't? This is sloppy even for this show.
And while I'm indulging in a rare complaint, do they really need to fluff each episode out with meaningless, badly acted (although it's the writers fault rather than the actors) scenes with pseudo wisdom and lots of tears and emotion and bad consoling chats? At least episode 11 was better than 9 and 10, so I shouldn't complain. This is The Walking Dead after all; anyone not used to endless filler should stop watching.

In fact, everybody is already infected with it. Its only symptom is that you will turn upon dying, no matter the cause of death. So, getting zombie blood into your system doesn't necessarily mean you die. A zombie's bite, on the other hand, transmits normal bacteria like, say, the bite of a komodo dragon would. You would then die of an ordinary sepsis with high fever and failure of organs, upon which the zombie virus causes you to become undead. Such is the inner logic of the Walking Dead world. However, due to bad writing, the series often changes its own rules, so expect inconsistencies to occur frequently.

Er, except that people lop off limbs when they're bitten with the idea of stopping the spread. I agree it makes no sense, but that's not really what they're saying. It would appear that they imply that a zombie bite is extra infectious and causes fever/death etc, despite the fact that they all carry the disease. That a bite would kill someone or require the immediate amputation of a limb seems unlikely.
EDIT: Unless I'm wrong. I actually have no idea about how lethal a bite would be. But everyone treats being bitten as basically a death-sentence. I assume it's the normal idea of immediate spread.

Just pretend a zombie is a snake: its bite is venomous, but quickly chopping off the bitten limb can stop the poison from spreading. At the same time, getting a bit of snake blood into your system isn't too problematic. No inconsistency there.

Woah, Rick the new antagonist?
Slow episode, but I enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to the season finale, and how this all unfolds.

That was probably my favorite non-action packed episode at least of the season. Maggie beaming with pride at Glen had me cracking up.
How ever this boils to head it's going to be intense.

Naw, everything points to Rick trying to make the larger group stronger. I'd expect him to do things like gun training and allowing people to carry guns/etc now. He's just saying if they can't keep up, they won't get dragged down to their level.
Seems roughly like I thought though. The inner group is not used to fighting the outside world, so they need Rick's group for that.
