Apparently this was actually just a new beginning and it doesn't sound half bad.

With three original movies... My god. Hopefully they bomb so hard AMC finally sees the light, though I thought Andrew Lincoln wanted to move on to new things.

Yeah I'm much less excited about those than I am about Judith and the potential of international stories. I just want them to give it over to directors/crews from those countries so we get their perspective and not a super Merica version of the outbreak in Brazil or whatever.

Judith seems like everything I hoped Carl would become (but failed miserably at).

I never thought I would say this but, holy shit, The Walking Dead is... decent again. It may be because I just binged the past 7 episodes but the pacing is very good. The timeskip offers some actual forward momentum for the story and creates much needed character development. The communities have grown organically. Every episode is no longer a mopey depressing pity party anymore. For some reason, against all of my best judgement, I am actually looking forward to the future episodes. Might actually watch weekly again.

Edit: Just saw the mid-season finale. It was okay.

The introduction of the Whisperers was well done up to the point where they enter a haunted graveyard set that looks straight out of a Disney movie. I did appreciate the cheesiness here though. It's a sharp contrast to the mopey crybaby nonsense we got over the past few seasons.
Once again, I feel like the pacing is actually pretty solid this time around. Also, very glad to see that plot armor is melting away the further we stray from the source material.
