Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

Slow episode, but I enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to the season finale, and how this all unfolds. Naw, everything points to Rick trying to make the larger group stronger. I'd expect him to do things like gun training and allowing people to carry guns/etc now. He's just saying if they can't keep up, they won't get dragged down to their level. Seems roughly like I thought though. The inner group is not used to fighting the outside world, so they need Rick's group for that.
The clues lead me to believe there is a much more pressing threat on the horizon. Also that the new girl that carl was watching is a spy for that threat.
I have some more tinfoil stuff about how the 'walkers' that took down the previous party was actually scouts from that impending threat. The hanging zombie one of the people they killed. The kid thinks he can protect mommy and the town on his own and Mom is happy glen showed him he wasn't as tough as he thought.
Of course I feel like that's what they want me to think so something must be at least slightly different.

I'm thinking some small group/individual has been following them for a while. Took Rick's gun from the juicer and is probably behind the chopped up zombies (otherwise why show that?). Best episode in a while. Daryl acting like a caged animal was hilarious. The contrast with Carol is great too though I'm guessing she's hiding her threat level just in case they need her to go rambo again.

lol...yeah. she was all smiles and acting weak as fuck (that scene with her taking off the rifle).

glen being a boss, i rewatched that scene 3 times, great stuff.

Pete said 1 line and its already a douchebag. I like that

I found the Carol bit annoying, and not believable in the slightest sense. She's a weak housewife type yet is carrying that type of gun, and has been with the group that long. Dumb story line.
But an overall alight episode. Noah needs to die already and Eugene needs to start his major story lines.

This show requires tension to keep going, so I like the idea of there being an unknown threat looming. However, with the town's ridiculous desire for transparency would be completely destroyed if they lured Rick's crew in order to fight something without telling them. So in fact I hope some hidden threat is not the case because the writing has been getting better and that would just soil it.

This has been the first time in ages the group got to interact with outside people that are not pure evil or batshit insane. And I like it, a lot.
Not sure about Rick yet, though. I like the angle of him getting too paranoid, thus becoming what he's been fighting all this time. But then again, they might try to portray it as Rick just being a tough dude who does what's right, which is just a whole lot less interesting. Still, I've quite enjoyed the last couple of episodes.

Hi,
Has anyone got a clue where the tv show is in comparison of the comic books?
Which chapter approx.?
Thanks

Yeah the last line about "if they are too weak we will take it from them" sounded eerily reminiscent of the Governor and the Prison.

I could understand an argument for his paranoia solely because of the stashed gun being stolen. He already knows that Alexandria folk watch/stalk people and - with Rick's crew handing in all of their guns - it stands to reason that none of them took it.
Also that guy smoking on the patio who made a comment to Rick about his wife was some damn clear foreshadowing of conflict between the two of them.

The wife is hot and obviously has a thing for Rick so yeah, drama incoming.

I know it's a lot to read into but his comments/tone gave me the impression that Alexandria had been getting on his nerves even before Sheriff Rick showed up. I also think the sheriff thing is a device to show that even if they had the opportunity to go back to who they 'were' that they are damaged now and will never again be who they were.

answer to your question+ Show Spoiler +Issue 69 in Volume 12 :Life among them is the arrival of Rick's group in Alexandria

First episode in a long time that had (almost) no action, and yet was an excellent episode. There is trouble brewing and they're doing a good job building it up.
Also, the priest has mysteriously disappeared. Last episode he had like 10 seconds of non-speaking screentime. Now he didn't even get that. Even when they had the group shot in the house I didn't see him there.

Not a bad episode. Just realized that Jessie is the young redhead maid in season 1 of American Horror Story.

She's quite obviously faking it in order to fit in. I mean, in her interview she tried to say she just latched onto the group and they take care of her, when in fact she's saved them all and is consistently doing things others can't to survive.

That's what I thought as well. She's clearly underestimating herself to the new person in charge. Rick seems a tiny bit paranoid, and should be, I think his demeanor is fine for now. We all know something is gonna happen that's sketchy as fuck in this town. Just gotta wait for it now. That girl Carl likes is probably going to be the cause of a death in the group because Carl is paying attention to her and not his job and someone pays for it. That guy on the porch smoking obviously gonna become a problem because his wife likes Rick. Incoming jealousy and possible attempted murder of Rick imo.
Wondering who took Rick's gun, he should just bring it up to the people in charge since he's the security of the town now. If they deny it, either confirms his paranoia about the place, or there's another group outside stalking both Rick's group and the town. If they admit it, at least he knows, and confirms townies aren't as stupid as they seem. He needs to bring it up though to get a bearing.
Also also, look forward to seeing Michonne wearing a uniform and also having a giant katana on her back at the same time. I assume Rick will have his gun's back while on duty, how else would he be a deterrent if he wasn't armed.
|
I also think he'll stick around. He'll get more and more pissed as he looks at everybody with their fancy baths and such.
In the meantime, Michonne will notice that a visibly female neighbor is flirting with Rick and get more and more pissed.
Also, Jessie's husband will see Jessie flirting with Rick and get more and more pissed.
Then, the loudmouth wannabe leader will realize nobody's going to listen to his stupid orders and get pissed off.
Carl, who finally is in contact with a girl his own age, will catch her making out with one of the other kids and get super pissed.
Everyone will go into a room and close the door when they want to have sex. Eugene will get more and more pissed.
Tara will see a zombie and sprain her ankle, pissing her off.
Every time Rick sees a kitchen appliance, he'll remember that someone stole his gun and get pissed.
All of these pissed off people (and others I haven't mentioned) will choose the same moment to explode...

As others said, even with little to no action this episode was interesting. This is a show to the people that defended the super boring episodes and accused some of us of being haters and only wanting action. We only want quality writing.
BTW, as soon as show goes back to comic book material instead of inventing its own the quality of the show always jumps up. I seen same thing in GoT, most of the invented dialogues and scenes were half the quality of the ones that were from books.
I just wish people who adapt good source material would be forbidden to change more than 10% of original material, they don't know what they are doing. If they did they would be celebrated fantasy novel writers or celebrated coming book writers.
