Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

It's been many, many months since we last saw him. Just think how much Rick has changed in that time. And, well, it's been hinted at that the governor is a batshit insane liar, and Merle knows this and still sticks around..

Well, he will probably snap soon anyway since he gets treated as a dumb monkey.
Oh and that black dude eye fucking Andrea and Michonne the whole episode is creepy and should gtfo.

I might look stupid on this one, but + Show Spoiler +Why did the governer went into that little room with the heads from people on water? I don't get it. And no I didn't read the books but I am interested in why they were there and why he looked at them at that way.
I thought it was his family because he looked at the photo first and then got into the room so I expected it to be his Wife and daughter.

We didn't really get to know Merle that well to be honest. Also chaos brings out the worst in people, in fact, I've been out on hikes before and go with people who have there personalities changed during the trip due to futility.
I'm assuming Merle was acting different back then because he was frustrated... A zombie apocalypse was occurring lol. Merle finding this new place, a place in which there is order and little chaos may of brought back the Pre-Apocolypse Merle.

Youre right in that noone knows whats going on with him really.

I mean people should start getting more excited from this show, it looks like we're going to have more great characters in addition to darryl. Aka, Merle and the Governor.

The Governor just watches the decapitated zombie heads in the aquarium kind of like television. It's just one of the examples of why he's really insane in both the comics and t.v. show.

I thought this was a great episode unlike others, first 2 had too much action its time to settle down. Great intro to the Governor
|
I fear that they're going to water down just how fucking evil the governor is.
Good intro none the less. Glad they kept the 'television'

It's one of those times I'm glad the show isn't just a re-telling of the comic book series. I know the characters, but I still don't really know what's going to happen. The base is the same, but the events are mostly completely different. Still keeps me eager to see where things are going.
Governer likely isn't going to be as twisted as his comic book counterpart, but I'm alright with that.

Didn't Rick also find drugs on Merle in season 1? That could help explain why he's acting so different from the limited time we saw him.

Is there anything wrong with the tea the scientist guy is serving?
He seems super creepy and wierd, and the Governer said somethnig about keeping him around for his tea. Then later on he suspiciously gives both Andrea and Michonne a cup of tea while staring at them drink it. I just felt that something was being hinted at but maybe I'm wrong. Idc about comic spoilers.

He seemed creepy to me as well, but I don't think there was anything wrong with the tea (he offered it to the women since he is obviously proud of his tea and was trying to impress them). What is very likely though is that this guy knows all about the "head television" in the governor's home - he (the governor) wouldn't have been able to set that up on his own - he was likely assisted by the 4 eyed creep.

I'd think the black nurse would know about the fishtanks too, she was the one offering care and trying to keep him alive. It'd be weird for her to not have questions when her patient just disappears and/or dies and she wouldn't know where he went.

These are the people most likely to be keeping a constant watch of their surroundings, to be honed in and aware of when they are being followed or watched. Even if you were to completely surprise them, on what planet do they get slaughtered without dishing out any kind of resistance. It was like lambs to the slaughter in that scene. I can understand the possibility of being ambushed like that, you don't exactly see people as a threat in a zombie apocalypse. You try to survive against the Walkers, not people themselves. It may of looked kind of dumb the fact that they didn't fire back with resistance, but you must remember that these guys were mostly kids and probably were scared shitless when they heard gun fire. Don't get me wrong, I've never been fired upon with real live ammo, however I have been paint balling a few times and understand what it's liked to be surrounded with no cover being shot from multiple angles. You feel helpless and you sit there like a rabbit about to be hit by a car with strong head lights. You couldn't be more wrong. Zombies are predictable, slow, and easy to kill. They only pose a threat in large overwhelming numbers or the dead of night.
Humans on the other hand... selfish, greedy, intelligent, and unpredictable. I would never trust a single human at first sight in a post-apocalyptic world. Ever. I would do exactly what Michonne did. Hide and observe, and if approached directly, the person would be subdued immediately.
You'd also think that after surviving for so long in a post-apocalyptic world, the soldiers would be more on edge... Especially with their leader gone. It looked more like they were just on a normal modern day detail with no real threats. That entire scene was terrible writing imo.
Also hate how pathetic they are making Andrea's character. I really hope they aren't trying to turn her into Lilly Caul.

Honestly I just thought it was horrible acting/writing. I got the impression they were presenting him as this nerdy pseudo-scientist like character that is useful to the governor, but who is scared of what he (or anyone else) is capable of in this post-apocalyptic world. They sort of show him looking on disapprovingly after the gov returns with the national guard's vehicles and weaponry. He's an intellectual type character who is privy to more information than the average town-goer and doesn't like the men he works for. I don't think there's anything in the tea, the writers just want to make this character look like a complete pussy nerd stereotype. Which is disappointing.
But I could be wrong.

More I think about it I think you're right. He's probably just awkward around girls and is too smart for his own good.

The tea is explained in the Talking Dead afterwards; it's just a homage to one of the writers who enjoys drinking tea a lot.
