The fact still remains though that we have 2 full days of competition where we already know one of the finalists. The main event is 4 days long and we already know who is top2 after the first day. It dampens the hype/suspense that a more traditional schedule provides.

then try to take the top tower quickly with eidolons

There's a ton of "momentum" teams here where i can see the couple of days worth of waiting working against them when they're paired up against a team that worked as hard as they did to get up there assuming it's not one of the three of the teams getting dropped here.
You can say it's an advantage in that Newbee doesn't have to play as many games and has plenty of time to prepare in advance. EG had plenty of time to prepare for DK and it showed today, but against Newbee PPD's drafts were abit predictable and played right into Xiao8's hands.

I think EG was relaly, really prepared for DK. The Abaddon pick was genius in game one, and they really rendered the FV useless in game 2 with their positioning.
Against Newbee... I remember back in the days of dota 1 where teams used to pick vengeful spirit just because of her ability to swap through bkbs and cancel ultis. Newbee uses lich and doom in a similar way. It's a really strong way of disrupting EG's AoE-Ult heavy strats, with the added benefit that if they get EG to misfire on their ults once, it takes a long time for EG's ults to get off cooldown in sync. This allows Newbee to control the pace.

well EG didnt take a single game from Newbee
DOTA2 is won or lost at the draft, since all the teams at this level are very even in terms of execution, mechanics, communication etc.

Congratz to Newbee for the amazing run. A little bit sad for EG, since it would have been really nice to see such a motivated young team in the Grand Finals. Even though, I still believe in Na'Vi !

i don't disagree that drafts are really important, but to claim the game is lost before the horn is stupid,
i.e had EG played better in game 1, they would have won, and u would have said the exact same thing if that were the case (which is dumb)

People's expectations are simply way too high due to a few things. One, they're judging it against TI3's grand finals and Liquid's game vs LGD, or TI2's "The play" Navi vs Orange or Fountain vs Tongfu. Basically, against the other TI's highlights and expected TI to jump off last year's grand finals level and be better than that from the onset. And two, the $10 mil prizepool made people think every game was gonna be mind blowing cause we're real sports now or something. Sometimes you get seahawks broncos this year, sometimes you get heat spurs last year. Money doesn't correlate with tournament quality but it did fuel the hype train and raise expectations.
