It dampens the hype/suspense that a more traditional schedule provides. So what? You still have 7 amazing teams fighting for their lives tomorrow and everyone of those matches will not be "dampened" because you know one of the finalists. Don't worry you will have plenty of hype, nailbiting, sweat and tears the next coming days. People's expectations are simply way too high due to a few things. One, they're judging it against TI3's grand finals and Liquid's game vs LGD, or TI2's "The play" Navi vs Orange or Fountain vs Tongfu. Basically, against the other TI's highlights and expected TI to jump off last year's grand finals level and be better than that from the onset. And two, the $10 mil prizepool made people think every game was gonna be mind blowing cause we're real sports now or something. Sometimes you get seahawks broncos this year, sometimes you get heat spurs last year. Money doesn't correlate with tournament quality but it did fuel the hype train and raise expectations.
It isn't even about which teams are in the Finals. I think you are both missing the point here.
No one wants to know who one of the top2 are when we are only 25% of the way through the tournament (Main Event).
Take NCAA basketball or NBA for example. You're playing out one entire side of the brackets while only playing out maybe 20% of the other side. It would be like we already know the Spurs made it to the Finals when the Eastern Conference is still playing out the 2nd round.
It's just not a good way to build up towards a climactic ending.
It has nothing to do with specific teams or quality of games.

I for one like this kind of format when there's a TEAM TO BEAT.
Like you know, all teams can gather together and form an strategic Alliance, try to brainstorm the way to victory. Every little thing counts, every little knowledge helps. I think this can be easily the case on day 3, why not.

I'm not sure honestly. I prefer last year's format to this years. Too many teams that could have done better got knocked out way early then necessary. Games were played when they could have been better hyped up (aka the group stages).
I don't mind seeing one team waiting but... iuno this years format is just... iffy.

I saw him get banned. Most of us were posting when he was doing that East vs West crap in TI3. The mods banned him after all of us got sick of it. If they unbanned him he didn't come back posting.
