Nightstalker is recommended by many people as one the best ganking heroes in the game, so how come i don't see it is as often in competitive games? My experience so far with it is NS is extremely OP during the first couple of night and it starts going downhill from there, though you can still pickoff enemy's caster.
He is used sometimes, but his problem is he's unreliable - useless in the day. NS is all about getting a decisive amount of kills for your team early game.

Not sure what you guys are talking about lol, he's hardly unreliable. Show me a game where he's not first round ban/picked. The point is he has high armor and if he wins mid, then helps gank first night with a solid amount of kills and assists he gets his early items and wins your team the side lanes as well.

I didn't mean strictly competitive Dota 2, if it's not -cm and he doesn't get a team built around him he won't neccesarily be that good. In dota 1 there are safer picks IMO since Balanar is a bit of an all-in.

What orb schould I get on Naix? Do HotD/Satanic stack with feast?

I would recommend to get desolator naix doesnt need a HotD/Satanic, but atm im not quite sure if it stacks or if it ever has. Point is you dont need it since you have feast, open wounds and Infest to reg yourself up pretty fast.

Indeed, Desolator is generally the best orb on Naix. I've seen most often though Armlet is the first item, then either Deso or BKB as 2nd and 3rd item.

As far as I'm aware, the most common orb for Lifestealer in competitive play is Maelstrom/Mjollnir.
You lack AoE pushing/farming abilities on your own, so Mjollnir fills that gap, and the high %-based damage you get from feast favors buying at least one Hyperstone-based attack speed item over plain damage items.

I see the same as TheYango, the most common orb for Naix in competitive play is indeed Maelstrom/Mjollnir, not Desolator.
Desolater isn't bad because it gives -armor, which synergizes with Feast. However, I believe Maelstorm/Mjollnir is better because it gives attack speed and with Rage the chain lightning will proc quite a bit. You can also lifesteal back from wounds with the chain lightning (minor).
I would suggest that you always get at least armlet before getting an orb, and never get lifesteal of any kind for Naix because he doesn't need more lifesteal.

Also, just wondering why hardly anyone picks Batrider in Dota 2 at competitive level. It's still a top pick in Dota 1, where there are even more heroes to compete with like CK, Yogi Bear and Lycan. I read that Batrider is somehow worse in Dota 2? Not sure how though. He'd be very strong against NS and even AM with lasso.

How do you make client auto-join teamliquid chatroom on startup?

Incidentally, if people are consciously building against you, Feast will make -armor less useful for you.
-Armor is most effective vs. targets that have high HP and low armor. This is because each point of armor is equivalent to a 6% increase to your HP--the more HP you have, the higher this % is. The Desolator debuff effectively reduces the targets EHP by an amount equal to 36% of their HP.
The thing is, Feast ALREADY discourages people from building HP against you. Anyone who's building stuff like Heart against you and not armor items like AC is clearly not paying attention. You don't need Desolator to tear those people to shreds. Enemies that feel you are a threat will have high armor and low HP--those are the people you should be itemizing to kill. This in turn makes damage sources that are not physical damage-based stronger. Lo and behold--Mjollnir adds a magic damage-based damage source to your autoattacks, which doesn't interact at all with the enemy's armor.

His napalm doesn't show numbers above people's heads in Dota 2. That's a bigger deal than it sounds, so he fell out of favour.

Basically, he 'feels' wrong, the lack of napalm numbers messes up most bat players timings, it doesn't show up I fog any more, making him less effective mid, and a bunch of stuff that didn't work on him in firefly in dota 1 does in 2. He is, actually, mechanically nerfed in dota 2, plus he doesn't feel right yet. Really hard to explain unless youve played amlot of bat in dota 1.

it's hard to explain. but dota2 bat just isn't as good, firefly feels weird to me as well. and to explain what didn't work on him in firefly in dota1, some spells dont work on flying units, which batrider turns into in dota1. so in dota1 cm can't frostbite a batrider in firefly. that's just one reason, but i feel like he does less damage with firefly than before for some reason, though this feeling is just from a few games playing and speccing.

just a general question, should a support always stack pull creeps in the long lane? (with the exception perhaps if you're getting pushed real hard?)

On February 03 2012 22:50 Bloodash wrote: just a general question, should a support always stack pull creeps in the long lane? (with the exception perhaps if you're getting pushed real hard?)
No. Stacking/pulling is something you do when your carry can be in the same state whether you're in or out of the lane. If your carry can't farm even when you're in the lane, stack and pull. If your carry can farm with you out of the lane, stack and pull. If your carry can farm with you in the lane, or you can dominate the lane, and can't farm if you stack and pull, then stay in the lane and dominate it and let your carry farm.
Stacking/pulling can backfire if the other team is playing an aggressive double stun lane who can just come over and nuke all the creeps for extra xp and gold. It's something that shines in situations where you're laning against a solo hero who can't pressure your pull or with a hero like mirana or razor who doesn't have much trouble farming in a 1v2 lane.

Completely random question: How come on Dendi's stream, his Dota2 account is level 6 and is gaining experience, while I cannot? Is it a bug or am I missing out on something obvious.
