I also just recently started getting into dota2 coming from LoL. I started off playing mostly Windrunner, and I think she's a pretty good place to start since she can go to any lane and still be useful without farm. She's also very good at escaping, which makes it easier to avoid feeding and angering teammates (I started off being very afraid of being clueless about dota2 but it turns out that i've been matched with a lot of even worse players, so I wouldn't worry too much) I still don't know lane setups very well, but at the low level games I've played almost everyone locks in hard carries so I don't think they're (edit: by "they" i mean who goes to which lane) particularly important until later on. Some other support heroes that I've found relatively easy to pick up: Tidehunter, Crystal Maiden, Vengeful Spirit, Lich, Dazzle. And I think most supports can also take solo lanes and do alright with farm. | ||

As it says in the description, it seems to base the values on a comparison between your performance and that of others at your ranking. For example, I am like 10-0 on lycan, but my bars for him are relatively low. This is likely due to the fact that I haven't played him in 200 games and randomed him a lot when I had just started. Since I am much higher ranked now than then, it doesn't factor those games in very heavily because they occurred in a much lower MMR range than I currently am, even though my average is something like 700GPM and 20 KDR. Same for Ursa, I'm 5-0, huge KDR, huge GPM, but haven't played him in 2-300 games. Then I'm something like 4-5 on Razor yet he has almost maxed bars. I'm like 3 KDR, 450 GPM average, but it is ranked much more highly because I played those Razor games in games of a comparable MMR to my current MMR. Same for Rhasta (5-2), Enchantress (1-4, still have almost full bars). They made this more stringent last time they changed the bars. My heros all got significantly different rankings and many heros that I had almost full bars on are now at like 1 bar. That's just my guess as to how the bars work based on what I've seen. You shouldn't really give a shit about them, either way. They don't show anything of particular value and neccessarily cannot be accurate since they almost certainly take into account GPM, KDR, and other things that are relative to the actual game and cannot be judged by a basic ranking algorithm. | ||
