Oh and if anyone can answer this question I posted on reddit about a console command it'd be much appreciated!

Also note the guide to watching DotA 2 I edited in right on top of the thread, basically all your hero questions are answered there.

Who I found to be great in the beginning were Lion (nuker/cc), Nature's Prophet (jungle with global ganking capabilities), Lifestealer (think WW). If you want to play ranged dps I suggest Weaver. He's prolly the coolest guy in that regard to start out with.

Short other answers:
-You are guaranteed to get an item when you level up. That's about it at the moment.
-Some people will probably trade you keys at some point in the future. Until then, buying is the only way.
-You can see if your matchmaking is low/medium/high by searching for your own games and using the filter. Note that it seems every random scrub and their mom is in high though so I doubt it really means much.

Last hitting is still easy with it on. The issue is more when hiding and having sight of enemy due to wards/creeps or something.

Is their a timer for when the game counts? I just had a fast leaver in my team and it said that it was safe to leave, so my entire team and then I left. There is nothing in my game history that this game was played, or will it appear when the enemy wins the game? Because atm they are probably still busy.

If we don't get a loss, will the enemy team get a win?

Additionally, when the abandon is made, the red text that states that the game is safe to leave will also mention that "no stats will be recorded". If this is not written at the end of the message you can assume it will count stats.

Just last night after a big mid fight over the rune resulting in their team loosing first blood and another hero one guy instantly abandoned and it still counted.
One bright day in the middle of the night, Two dead boys got up to fight; Back to back they faced each other, Drew their swords and shot each other.

First blood or some point in time is the border for whether stats count or not, not 100% sure

Is there a way to check ping to use server before I play a game? I know I can do ping in console after the game has started but how do I do it before a game to check whether or not I can play?

I use 1234 for skills and qwerdf for items, and use F1-F4 (and higher if needed) for control groups. Seems a bit awkward at first but I've always been used to using the F keys a bunch from weapon set swapping in competitive Guild Wars :p

What's the generally accepted competitive skill build for Morphling? Obviously Waveform is 1/3/5/7. I have tried maxing morph second, but I find that leaves my mana pool really low and impedes my farming. So I like to take stats up till waveform is maxed and only then at level 8 start taking morph, maxing adaptive strike last (I usually don't play shotgun morph). Also should replicate be taken 6/11/16 or 10/11/16?

Morph gives strength and agility upon gaining ranks of it now, so it's arguably just better to level morph at 2 and 4 instead of getting stats. If you need mana there are enough cheap item options like Bottle, Aquila, and Perseverance->Linkens. If those items don't supply you enough early on, you should be managing your mana more carefully. You really shouldn't be using Waveform to farm until you have enough itemized regen anyway.

yea generally waveform>morph>adaptive
1 early point in adaptive is acceptable but generally not necessary
if u need more survivability morph is better than stats
if u need more mana stop waveforming so much

Lvl 1 wave isn't really good imo, unless you try to engage early. Morph lvl 1 makes last hit easier.
And I skill replicate only at lvl 9. Dunno if it's good but I like to afk farm.

Pretty much always get morph at 2/4 (or 1/4 if ur greedy, but waveform at 1 is much safer). Rest is kind of situational.
I liked Dota before it was Mainstream.

1) Having the same items with active effects like Linkens Sphere will cause both to go on cooldown. (They don't stack)
2) BKB cause the user to go magic immune and removes all magic effects upon activation and since Ethereal form is a magic effect it is removed by BKB and you cannot activate Ghost Scepter when under the effects of BKB.
