They've had 3 days bootkamp in Bucharest ( according to MC ) but no skrims planned, just casual pubs.
Well we got VC for the first of our two ( hopefully ) Bo1 elimination. After the stomp they gave us in Katowice, i am waiting to see if our boys learned their lesson.
P.S. ( After the game vs VC ) Seems like they are not that good without their only viable strat. First Ban Naga ---> 20 min gg. EZ.
Only proves my concern that Kuro just wanted to prove that they can beat anything. And that is not true... Anywas 1 more game until those Bo3s.
Well thanks to insomnia, this is the one match that I could have watched anyways, and it was nice! Not elimination, better Rosh fights, and... well, the high ground pushes eventually worked. Could've just chosen to hit the ranged rax instead that first time.
It wasn't a smooth game - almost the same rosh fight problems and engaging the fight in unfavorable conditions (a few times on og intiation) - but they had a few very good initiations on their own and a few good team fights. I was a relatively close one - og seems to seriously study (who doesn't??!!) the guys style/fights - and I'm so happy they've pull it through.
Well at least that nightmare of a group stage is over with. I may be traumatized and I'll always be haunted by the fact people actually think BO1 group stages belong in DOTA, but at least I can try to stop the bleeding.
Well in fact group stage is like a big best of five: 3 losses and you are out. So it is only slightly worse than a group stage with 2x BO3 - there 4 losses mean elimination, but you also need 4 wins, not just 3 to pass through.
You should not be out of the tournament without even playing one bo3, but that's just my opinion. I am glad the boys pulled through, that last game against OG was pretty intense. Now we have a normal tournament with bo3 series, how it always should be;)
Im glad we got EG, as our theory of Bo1 will be tested. If EG win - ill agree that they really deserve it. But if they don't it will be another nail in the Bo1 Coffin.
I don't think the bo1 group stage is quite as bad as a lot of people seem to think.
You have between 3 and 5 games overall. You need 3 wins to come through, just not in a single bo5, but against different opponents.
Yes... unexpected things can happen in a bo1 and the better team can lose... but if you are one of the better teams in the event, that should not happen 2-3 times in one event.
Don't get me wrong, I will always prefer a bo3 - but I just can't get behing all of the complaints
It does mean that anyone eliminated has effectively only lost one bo3 or bo5. Is that enough to kick a team out of the tournament completely? Any tournament that runs single elim off of bo3's would still receive plenty of criticism for that.
Anyway now that Liquid are through we don't need to complain about it any more, leave it to the fans of teams that were eliminated.

There's no scenario where losing a bo3 gets you kicked out of the tournament. You need to have 3 losses aka lose a bo5 to drop out.
Isn't it good to have some different style tournaments?
I loved the whole moonduck thing... this one was a bit strange, but also kind of fresh.
I do agree though, that I wouldn't want to see every tournament like this, especially TI should stay far away from any weird bo1 shenanigans. Overall this was alright though.

Whoops, you're right.
Still though, would you accept a bo5 single elim tournament?
Bo1s favor - I think - the weaker and not-so-known teams not the stronger ones: is an one shot opportunity for the former (the huge motivation to beat a stronger/strongest team [which - almost sure - they've watched for long time]. SO: a strong team isn't a team who wins all the b01s vs weaker/stronger teams, but a team who manage to adapt better in a (at least) bo3 game vs any team: they analyze better (and faster) after every (if) lost map where they failed and what they have to do in the next game: this is critical in dota - a draft and strategy game. Bo1s are like a one-set-tennis or one-half-football or one-frame-snooker or whatever ... P.S. Most of all, I would like to hear the voice of teams/players (who-what says) on this matter...
