they did good but i wouldnt say this is a major LAN accomplishment. they were not tested really since they only play against IG the whole tournament, it's like a 2 team tournament, maybe 3. also i dont know why everyone is saying they have s superb draft now compared to before, i mean they won 2 games with 2 classic strategies, strategies that was tested and used often, not something new. they executed it pretty well though and outplayed IG.

dont get me wrong im a Secret fan too but... idk, maybe i just dont want to be dissapointed again if they under perform next TRUE LAN

i dont think its a major LAN accomplishment either, but people were treating empire like gods when they only played against EG in the last LAN (and now against VG aswell)

empire beating vg was more of a surprise, but secret showed the haters they are capable to work as a team!

I think the issue here is expectation. People expect Secret to win or compete to win in every tournament, and until recently people basically expected Empire to get to the LANs and lose.

Edit: also, I think VG is generally thought of as a better team than iG. Hell, I know even after D2CL, I still think of VG as the best team in the world.

I'm calling it, Secret vs Empire TI5 finals

C9's probably going to beat Empire(like they always do) though

probably not just c9 .. empire is not invincible to VP as well

there are a couple of teams in the west that are not doing super well against .. i'm surprised that VG got rekt with their aggression that was how empire looks like normally against other western teams

Secret doesn't win a LAN: "worst team ever disband you n00bz"

Secret wins a LAN: "that doesn't count, still n00bz"

Haters gonna hate. Good job boys, I can't wait to see the VODs (only managed to watch the first game before I went to sleep).

Next stop: The Summit

I also only saw the first game; sad timezone
But I have to ask something:
All games won by Secret had ppy on Dazzle And I noticed one thing: Instead of using his Ulti on their own heroes, espacially for supporting going high ground, ppy always used it offensively on the "barracks" and catchin 2-3 enemy heroes to get their armor down! I think that made a huge impact in the first game and their single target burst (drow-visage combo).
Is it just me, or is that a quite rare (but powerful) usage? Like I said, normally they use it to buff themselves! Or is it just depending on team composition? Didn't see the other two games, if ppy did this too...

In game 1 and 3, were they teamed up really early, they played very wonky imo (despite winning g1). Happy to see them win this redbull tournament, hopefully they will evolve further at the summit because i dont see them as ti5 champion potential yet.

Edit: atleast they better then CoL now

No team really had time to play a lot of games on the new patch as a team. Arteezy was still playing ridiculous amounts on stream testing different heroes that got changed, which probably is more important in the beginning of a patch than playing a few games as a team. It's a similar story for the Summit as well I think. Some teams were playing in D2CL and Redbull (+ all the traveling that is involved), and even c9 for example already travelled to California so they didn't have that much time to play scrims either.

But I have to say the production for the final seemed great both for spectators and the people at the venue. I hope in the future Redbull does bigger events, the "only 1 team from each region" isn't really ideal for doing very competitive events. Although this time I guess it was even worse than it needed to be due to EG skipping the event and HR winning the CIS qualifier and then having to attend with a standin.

The win over iG probably gives Secret a nice boost in confidence going into the Summit. iG and Secret meet on the first round of their group again, interesting to see how that game turns out.

of course, they diddn't. They never do.
VG also diddnt practice (accoring to ice3 iirc) before winning some tournament. Or old boys.
Therefore bootcamping equals loosing.
