prepositions in titles aren't typically capitalized. the title is correct.

Can't read it all right now but I can tell it was worth the drought of content on LD recently.

Nice article. I skipped a few of the drafts near the end and most of the videos. Didn't feel like they added anything to the experience of reading it. (Could live with reading an article of this quality each day. :p )
I still think Alliance had very skilled players. Not the most skilled team yet among the top 5 in the tournament. No strategy can compensate for all individuals losing badly in Dota 2.

I think that's the point though. They were able to overcome the slight gap in skill to achieve phenomenal results. (they were pretty much unbeatable for half a year)

Edit: really like the contents being pulled out to the side.. is that new? Maybe I read on mobile too much. we've done it in less cool ways before but Nixer really made it look nice this time. Looks even better if you put it in focus mode. I've already savored the graphics at first glance. Now to dive into the content! I'll try the focus mode if you recommend it. edit + Show Spoiler [nitpicking] +I think a quantum leap would be a very very tiny one... quantum is all about atom scale stuff
Edit2: Would you make a focus mode button in the menu that moves along on the right? (I can accidentally click out of it... bright light! bright light! Since I obviously read Dota forums to comment on physics, I will answer that a quantum leap is in fact huge. It's not huge in terms of distance (a fraction of one atomic radius, which is around 10^-10 m depending on the atom), but it is significant because it's a discrete state change : unlike usual measurements in physics, which can take any value, the energy level of an electron is "ground", or "ground +1", +2 etc (it can't be +1.5 for instance).
Also a quantum leap emits a photon, which is pretty awesome. Even leaping at olympic gold distance wouldn't make you emit photons.

I usually don't have a need to correct people, but I don't know if you're trying to act smart or what, but pretty much everything you said is wrong.
People emit photons, that's why you can be seen in the infrared spectrum. Everything that radiates energy emits photons. Anyway, your explanation is quite poor and shows no understanding.
Anyway, awesome article! Just what we needed, it'll take me a bit to go through it all!
Edit: Still, even though a quantum is usually the smallest discrete quantity, the phrase "quantum leap" means significant advance or breakthrough. The definition is rather odd, but it is what it is, physicists are not good at creating words.
Also keep in mind that a quantum leap or change, does not have to occur due to electrons changing states, it can happen from changes in the protons/neutrons, entire atom, or molecule (from the limited physics knowledge from a couple University courses and online research).

Been a while since I've seen a great article around here. Only read abut halfway so far, and it's great! Good job!

Good insights.
Would have been nice to read this closer to the actual TI3, though. Also, it's very wordy.

Wow, very cool. I bet TI4's analysis won't be so long. "Get some tanky cores and push towers at 12 minutes. Hell, you can even afford a 4 position Doom"

Wow, a new Ver article!
Ver could write an article on the art of watching the paint dry, and it would still be the best thing ever.

Superb article. Makes me glad I still use this site to click through to LiquidHearth.
Everything in the article was spot-on. Literally the only critique I can make of it is the failure to cover Alliance vs. Na'Vi game 5. The reader at this point has been introduced to the concept that Alliance can be defeated if their opponents ban out all four of their favorite supports. So how did Alliance manage to win anyway in game 5, even with the core of their strategy outright removed? A paragraph analyzing that final game would be beautiful, and would cap off the article to make it unassailable (outside of some minor typos, such as "eek" instead of "eke").
It's that very same nerf that Icefrog put on Alliance which has eventually made me quit the game. From the very start I was dubious, because I knew it would change a lot of the hard, grindy strategy that I loved most. I kept with it, hoping things would change, but I think it's an overall direction of the game away from difficult and almost punishing resource allocation to flashy teamfights. I understand that many people love the teamfights, but sadly it means it's no longer for me. I do love seeing this kind of content, though, that goes back and covers the era of the game which got me unbearably excited to watch and play and learn. Thank you for that wonderful trip down memory lane.

Depends - he probably means quantum tunnelling, which is like a leap over/through a potential barrier, and in quantum terms that's a huge step to make. As a particle physicist, I'm ok with the wording on that one
Damn awesome article, the depth this goes into is incredible, and I felt like I learnt something with every sentence! Good job team :D
