I just killed Mahgda in Inferno with my 2H build.
I'm a bit depressed that you need Serenity + Breath of Heaven + Blinding Flash + a defensive mantra to even not die in less than 5 second...

I'm in the same boat. I played through Act 1 just fine while upgrading my gear with good 200-400k items (and got really lucky on a 680dps +600 on hit 200dex weapon). I can get through Act 2, but die to most strong elites, and I can barely survive white mobs act 3.

Every piece of gear I'd want is 2M+, even if they are supposed to be crap (a simple dex/vit/poison resist/armor with ok stats). I guess that's the price of sharing the main stat with the richest class in the game. The problem is compounded by the fact I cannot farm effectively. It takes 35 mins for a 5nephalem Warden/Butcher run, which gives 70kish gold and usually one item worth about 100k, using 150%+ MF gear for every boss kill/chest. Act 2 is worthless because of slow progression. I'd estimate my chances of finding an actual upgrade to my gear to be 0.1% per rare in Act 1.

Basically, I'm stuck, and it's starting to get really frustrating. 400res/33khp/16kdps/5k base armor/750 on hit. That's par for act 2.

I'm considering farming Hell Poney level. How's the loot in there?

ofc you get in trouble sometimes and ofc i still die sometimes mainly vs caster/ranged packs. i did act 1 easiely with a differnt build. this is for act 2+. act 1 is eazy as shit i used a build with dashing strike and backlash and 7 strike if i remember correctly.

Imo just play in act 1 with w/e you prefer. Incase you do have difficulties just go my build its very safe. incase you get stuck or anything like that just use your fear (heal spell)

I could see criplling with tsunamie work pretty decent. only thing, if you want to play act 1 undergeard you should get as much modifiers as you can and play safe

to the other guy below, u get increased DPS from increasing your attack speed ( a bad weapon doesnt help) - increasing crit chance + crit %dmg and dex.

What are you farming to get that kinda cash?


act 2 inferno mobs and belial runs solo/with brother. u can forget finding any decent weapons worth anything (because tier dmg is too low), but every now and then ull get some gloves that are + this + that 60 to all res, or a belt or something. I sold a pair of gloves for 2 mil the other day from a belial drop.

that being said, don't expect much from him. i feel a bit cheated, the first 5NV belial run i did aloine i got the sickest drops. ever since then im getting shitty 250dps 2 hand crossbows with +120 to intelligence for DH only. facepalm.

My act 2 belial run only takes ~20-30 minutes max. go to waypoint road of alcarnus and travel south-east till u find a bridge, go inside toward where u would face maghda (i think? or whatever). theres 1 mob always there and most of the time 2 (but not always.) then go to dahglua oasis or whatever its called and kill 2 mobs (or 3 - theres always a mob at the entrance to the ancient waterway so head north-east corner and you should meet 2 on the way). and for the last NV stack before you face belial there's always one mob. so that covers the 5, and belial takes ~4-5 min to kill.

the run depends on the elites, if they're annoying with shields + extra health + reflect dmg + u die and u have to walk far and they have full hp again (/ wrists) then it takes longer.

quick question all the builds show transcendance as giving 62 life for every point of spirit. Mine only shows up as 12... Whatsup with this?

I use Mantra of Retribution. Run in blinding flash, when it runs out serenity and BoH after that.

By the time the monsters can hit me they are dead. Feels like leveling a rogue in WoW.

I noticed that by farming in public games the lowest level quest you can get, it is fairly easy to farm gold and items. I've been farming Act 1 Hell for a day now, and I can fight threw Act 2 fairly easy now.

People get pissed but I think it's fun. It feels good when you get a good piece of gear. Sure Wizards and DH's pawn hard, that just makes me want them in my party more lmfao.
Monk: Because being a badass is more fun then playing a dude wearing a scarf.. ... Ite fuck it, Witch Doctor cuz I like killing stuff in a timely mannor.

I'm stuck in Act 2 Inferno but been seeing various forum threads of monks being successful. What is the current stat priority? It used to be stack resists and vitality, now im hearing life on hit or pure dps. Can any one past act 2 enlighten me?

my experience and perspective the following

1. armor
2. resistance
3. dex
4. vit

Get life on hit on the weapon or neckless

aim for 40% attack speed, gloves/rings/weap/amulet (3 items is fine)

a shield with 20% block and 3700-4700 block amount does wonders (even the blue ones with 1500 armor)

try to maintain 10k dps.
Health: act 1 25-30k, act 2 30-35k, act 3/4 40-45k

resistance 500 to all, and like 600 physical+

just did diablo with a friends (barb) and diablo only hits me for 4k cuz i have 1050 physical resist and 10.7k armor with him

also get some items with % dmg reduction from melee

I hate it when your serenity is active, and your near death experience still triggers when you receive fatal damage, even though it would've been absorbed by serentiy... does this bother anyone else?

Yes its a bug. Not sure why it wasnt fixed prior to release. Literally any instantly lethal damage will do this. D3 had some really piss poor testing.

How do you know if it was the testers fault? Lots of times in a games development testers will report bugs and management might ignore it because they deem it not worthly to push back the release date or put time towards solving the issue.

Considering how much shit they should have found (FA abuse, Critical Mass, Boon of Protection spam, Monk infinite spirit regen, etc.), I seriously doubt the development team "reported" it.

This is a coffee break fix. Obviously one shot hit are taking into account the passive before the shield. Im counting fixing and execution as part of the testing and bug fixing phase.

I would be more lenient if it werent for the fact they denied themselves communal testing. They could have unlocked all skills and abilities at 13 at any time.

EDIT: Goddam Im so pissed at watching other people with half the gear and half the skill breeze through this shit. I need to reroll another class. Not sure what but anything that isnt shitty monk.

guys how does the 3 second dodge from evasion mantra and the dodge from dashing strike stack to base dodge? im trying a build that uses both to heal me using transendence and to dodge attacks of course.

@levistus, it adds multiplicative. Which means the more you get the less effective it becomes. the exact numers you'd get is just a trial and error.
