I've hit a wall. I can't farm act 3 and I can only beat Belial one in every ~25 tries. i can get through Act 2, but between pot and repair costs I lose a ton of money from it, so I'm forced to run through act 1. I have 37k dmg with GC and FW and 21k hp. I've been using blizz/ven hydra. It feels incredibly weak to anythng that is even a little fast and it's absurd how long it takes me to kill some act 2 rares.
I've spent a couple million gold, but really it has not heped at all. Instead of allowing me to progress through act 3, it has just made act 2 slightly easier and act 1 a fucking cakewalk.
I don't know what to do.

your not supposed to farm act2. go back to act one and just kill it 500% faster. when u get like 35k health and 300 Ar skip to act 3. probably like 40-45k damage aswell.
|
21k sounds bit low I am at 30k and I have issues in Act 2 / Act 3. Also it has been said many times Blizz/Hydra is not the one way to go through Inferno you might need to try MM/AO or more then 12 percent run speed with wrist 6/7 percent. Looks like you put too much $$ into watching your DPS go up and either lack resist and HP or just HP. I would try to get closer to 30k HP and make sure your resist are 300/400+ and you are using Force Armor.

Your int is too low, you can push that to well over 1500 most easily before focusing on crit.

i just found killing act2 goblins with my wizard, and it's a strict upgrade for me, but I think it might be worth a fair bit.... which would let me upgrade the rest of my janky gear if i sold it. Any wizards have an idea what it's worth? NA server

I've been playing single player only so far, just started A4 inferno, at 31K HP, 42K DPS, 0.9 AS, ~500-600 AR, 5.2K armor. Yes no IAS at all (...) but now upgrades are becoming insanely expensive. I figure everyone will be switching to crit/crit dmg so maybe I can get some cheap 7% IAS gear after the patch Having a lot of fun critting for 180K though

Actually I don't think it is much worth. No socket so no 15% life this is the biggest flaw low vit low crit chance
But high ress + int is always worth a 500k or so.

Hmm, I'm sloshing through Act 3 Inf.
More stats: 1534 int 664 vit 2887 armor 26k dps unbuffed 34k dps with m. weapon (no glass cannon, which would bring up to 38ish) Equips/details: http://i.imgur.com/Zcnsq.jpg I have low HP.. 23.5k on Act 3, this is annoying because I just get EZ'd by things like soul rippers, and though swift skullcleavers OHKO me through FA, I shouldn't really be getting hit by those anyways (unless theyre fast ><)
Think my all res is good enough? I'm looking to get through a3 with ups on everything that doesn't have ares. But I'm not sure whether I should focus on int or vit (no vit ideally but I'd just die ~_~)

Once you get to the tower of the cursed things get MUCH easier (no more soul rippers). 24k is good enough to make FA work almost on everything why have more? i doubt glass cannon would only add 4k dps... I'd equip glass canon and force weapon and rip through everything with 40k++ dps.
right now i'm farming act3 with 22k hp 70k dps 30% crit 1.2atkspeed. fuck vit when things just melt. and my weapon is only 1306 dps. Need a 1500 one so bad :/

So it's not worth getting prismatic armor? I remember hearing that that was better than FA after a certain all res threshold. And hmm 70k is a lot more than 34k. lol, time to get dem int items ㅡ.ㅜ
Update, I guess. I restarted keep lv3 till I got lucky with a dungeon, beat Ghom with those same stats, which means I'm set for siegebreaker hahaha.

A question, fellow TL users:
Am I having terrible luck with drops? On my last 15 Siegebreaker runs, I've gotten a total of 3 halfway decent items (sold for 150-200k apiece), and everything else has been junk that I've vendored or salvaged. I always get to 5 Valor stacks before killing the Siegebreaker, obviously. Every time before I kill a rare mob or the last enemy in a champion pack or the siegebreaker boss, I change to all my MF gear, which leaves me at +234% MF before Valor stacks. I've gotten a truckload of magic and rare items but something like 95% of them are worthless. Should I be farming a different place? Am I having terrible luck? Or are my expectations too high and getting 500k gold worth of items for 15 siegebreaker runs is normal?

Prismatic is worth it when you have 600+ res and around 6k armor imo (res pre-armor, armor value counting force armor), but it also depends what you're up against (that was how much I had, roughly, when doing act 3).
Yeah you can make the whole FA argument, but high armor/resist lets you take more than 3 hits anyway. Why settle, if you have the gear?

I get 8-20 rares per Cydea/Azmodan run and they take me about an hour. I do switch to 200% MF (before stacks) for most elites. at least you have 2 guaranteed bosses instead of 1.
If you find elites you can't kill after Cydea (like fast/ extra health phasebeats or somethin) run them to the entrance up the stairs and go back to town (on the other side of the portal) then port back down and if you did it right they won't aggro. I sometimes have to restart the game when there is a super nasty elite pack (before cydea) right at the port in. And sometimes i have to go to Stonefort to find my last stack. Yes most of it is junk but i've gotten a 1020 dps 1h and a few other really nice things.

This is not Diablo 2. People are under the false impression that switching is efficient. Switching gear at the end of the fight is NOT EFFICIENT at all.
Jay Wilson clearly stated during the beta days that swapping gear was something they wanted to get rid of. How? Simple, add a hidden formula based on combat duration, magic find and time spent wearing magic find gear. See formula below
True MF%: (Combat Length) / [(Magic Find%) x (Duration)]
For example, for a 3 minute fight wearing 210% magic find and swapping gear during the last 10 seconds.
180 seconds / (2.10 x 10) = 8.571% magic find. (Not 210%). Your gear did increase your magic findings to 8.5% but no where near 210%.
These are not my findings and could use more hard-data to confirm the influence of each factors. Someone even made a youtube video about it, just can't find it yet.

"something THEY WANTED to get rid off" in beta. whether or not they actually did remains up in the air. but clearly if it's on YOUTUBE is has to be true!
go try to kill 6 elite packs and 2 bosses without MF (and starting with 0 NV stacks) and tell me how many times u have 15+ rares, lol.

I did about 25 runs before i started a magic find set on butcher. In all of these runs I only saw rares on champion packs once I had 5 stacks done. Nowadays with switching gear almost every pack drops a rare, and many of them drop 2. I cannot give you hard numbers, since i did not keep track, but it certainly doesn't feel as if you are correct.

Has anyone else found shock pulse with the explosive rune that causes AOE when you kill enemies to be really strong? The primary options are all a little weak, but this seems to me to be the best of the bunch in terms of damage output. It gives you more range than spectral blades, and if you're able to get 1 or 2 of the enemies down to low life, the explosive AOE sets off a chain reaction where everything in the group winds up dying at once.
Arcane orb is better for AOE damage, but for a primary spell that requires no arcane power, shock pulse seems underrated.
