I think this is the best build for act 3/4 inferno. Would consider dropping one of the passives for tactical advantage and vault for Rain of Vengeance with stun.
Caltrops with the root is very useful for kiting, Nether Tentacles is superior to everything for general purposes, Vault with acrobatics can give you another free smoke screen. I use Backup plan with Preparation because I think there aren't many occasions when a heal is even possible, since if you are hit you are dead, and the occasional free disci can be very welcome.

Hey dudes, been derping around in Act II inferno a bit, how do you deal with the invisible snakes??? I'm at 45K dmg (no sharpshooter) and 21K life. Been using Devouring and Nether, but in groups sometimes multishot broadside for fun, the others are the usual SS, Vault, Focused Mind, and Hatebat (I call him that). Do I need to go back to caltrops? Passives are Archery (using 800 dps bow), steady aim, and the speed increase vault and SS. Thanks.

i would pretty much just stop as the blur gets close to me and bait out the attack and tumble away as they come out of stealth

I leveled up my Demon Hunter alt and I'm about to hit 60, is Hellrack the legendary xbow worth buying for around 500k for a decent one? or should i just find a good blue/rare with increased attack speed for around 900 dps for a bit less
|
How much are you willing to pay for a 911.4 dps 2h bow 8% bonus vs elites? I'll sell for 425k.

The legendaries are really bad in general. Attack speed is already included in the dps. It is better to simply get the highest dps bow you can get and pretty much ignore everything else. The only thing you would want is a socket, which is worth about 100 dps. So in your scenario you would want the 900dps bow. But you prefer to have the same dps bow without increased attack speed because of better scaling.

Is there anything else I should look into getting? Your bow should be upgraded asap. You can get a 1k+ dps crossbow for less than a million. I managed to buy a 930ish crossbow with a socket for 400k a while back, that is equally good. Bow damage is everything. Make sure you have attack speed on everything that can have it, crit damage or crit% on the things that cant. A quiver with 7+ max discipline is also very good if you can get it, and +12% movement speed on boots. Is there any reason crossbow is better or is bow ok? And would you socket it for crit damage?

I find caltrops with the rooting rune helps immensely against those and anything else that likes to pop up next to you. I think it even stops some charging monsters, but I'm not positive. Other than that, I pretty much have SS on a hair trigger (goes double for areas where you have enemies that can charge you from offscreen).

Yeah you would socket it for crit damage. I think a crossbow is better due to sharpshooter burst damage, but the jury is still out on that one I think. I personally prefer them because it feels like I do more damage with comparable bows, but this might just be subjective. I don't think the difference is that big though.

I'm guessing you use archery as well, or are you referring to the crossbow's higher damage per attack? I use tactical advantage and steady aim, so I don't have room for archery. Actually, I've been tempted to give up sharpshooter and pick up a bow for the archery bonus damage... is having sharpshooter important?

I use archery (pretty much a must have), steady aim and sharshooter. I think sharpshooter is very good for the later acts. Being able to deliver a very high damage volley before having to dodge things or reposition is very important. It also alows you to very quickly eliminate a single mob in a pack so you can kill the rest later. its also excellent for reflect damage mobs, where you can only dps in bursts with smoke screen. Pretty much all difficult elite packs make it hard to dps for prolonged periods, and thats where sharpshooter shines.
Its a bit of personal preference ofcourse, but I personally see more logic in bursts at the start rather than spreading your damage evenly.

as a bow user with 66 k dps(no sharpshooter) with plenty of ias/3 attacks per sec. would stacking crit chance be better than crit dmg for me? not saying crit dmg is bad but of lower priority than crit chance for me.
|
Crit chance diminishes the more you stack it, with a 3aps I would probably stop around 25% crit and start stacking crit dmg.
|
Every stat "diminishes" relative to the other stats in the sense that having more of it doesn't make it better, while having more of it does make all your other stats better. The more dex you have, the better crit chance, crit damage, and IAS are, the more crit chance you have, the better crit damage, dex, and IAS are etc. This means that there will be some ideal balance of the stats, at which a single itemization point of any one of them will be worth the same increase in DPS. Naturally, it's probably much cheaper to stray from this balance, but when money is no object, you'll want to balance each of them.
|
Yeah, all stats have diminishing returns.
|
Do you guys generally take increased Critical Hit Damage, or % Weapon Damage?
Edit: Using 2H Xbow
|
^ weapon damage is already factored into the dps.
|
because a lot of people seem to miss this
weapon damage and ias on a weapon are shown in the dps. That's why if comparing 2 weps of relative dps you don't want the one with IAS as it's a lower range and makes your spells do less, so you get your ias on gear not wep.
|
Cool, much thanks

Dear Demon hunter types, I came across an interesting quiver a few days ago, it increased Elemental Arrow damage by 6%. I am curious is that something worthwhile to have? I've been looking at it in my stash and wondering exactly how effective that kind of bonus would actually be.
Thoughts?
