I have a 1k bow as well, and im still only sitting at 40k dps.

I'm wondering with the triple buffs that special enemies get in hell: should I start equipping more vitality and get it close to 60/40? How much vitality do you need for act 1 and act 2 hell? Thanks. | ||

I'm posting this for my Demon Hunter friend who just made an account here on TL. We're having a lot of trouble with act 2 inferno. The guys over in monk helped me a lot, so my friend was hoping he could get some help too. We're only posting here because we've gotten so desperate trying to figure what's wrong ourselves, so any help is much appreciated. What are primary stats that I should be looking for in terms of items? Should I bother itemizing in any form of defense? What are considered the best skills to use on DH?, Best passives? Also how do I survive inferno? Is it really just a kite fest? | ||

Some say any form of defense is unnecessary because you will be one-shot anyway, so you could go pure dps (dex, attack speed, crits). You NEED discipline on the items that can give it (cloak and quiver), and if you can get some extra through legendaries (there are a few) or a 1-hander that's pretty good. What are considered the best skills to use on DH?, Best passives? Elemental arrow with nether rune, Smoke screen with lingering, and Prep are close to must-haves. Then you need a hatred generator (Hungering is good because slows don't do anything anyway). Bat companion is cool. For the last slot you could have Marked for extra damage and hatred, or whatever. Archery passive and Steady aim are great passives for dps (10 yards is *nothing*). Also how do I survive inferno? Is it really just a kite fest? Not so much a kite fest as it's a spam-nethers-till-you're-out-of-hatred-and-die-to-random-shit-that-will-hit-you-and-curse-as-you-get-extra-fast-extra-health-elites-that-seems-to-kill-you-even-though-you-JUST-fucking-smoked-fest. | ||

Going through NM/Hell, I've found that using Multishot+fire at will rune as a hatred spender is extremly, extremely good, yet no one uses the skill. With vengeance passive, or just good hatred management, I never run out of hatred, and Multishot does massive damage. More importantly, it shoots through walls unlike almost every other arrow based skill, so I can spam across rooms/walls to clear mobs really fast. It's been my build of choice for the past 15lvls or so b/c it's just so hilariously effective, and all my friends at my level claim my class is OP, though it could be because I found some pretty good xbows. Has anyone had any success using multishot/other hatred spenders, or is it just Nether Tentacles all day all night? Are almost all mobs in Inferno immune to stuns/slows such as caltrops, or runed skills, or is it only certain mobs? | ||

I run with multishot, nether, trap, ss, prep and devouring and im doing fine. Actually i rarely use my ss, just stay in max range and kite with traps (with immobilize). Multishot works wonders, nethershot can be hard to hit with, if mobs arent in some narrow passage. | ||

Nether Tentacles is great for a couple of reasons, but it doesn't trump all other skills. -- Not elemental damage, doesn't get resisted by electrified (which FAW will), molten, frozen mobs etc. it's good to save a single attack/aoe skill so you can put everything else into utiliity and survival. -- Buggy damage? It will too often hit regular size monsters for twice for 155% damage, and larger monsters up to 3-4 times, and act bosses like 4+ times easily. -- Slow project speed. Allows you to stack SS crits. but sucks vs anything moving not directly towards you. -- Virtually no AOE, think it more as a piercing shot. Multishot is still a really fun skill to use but FAW is a must take rune I feel. 40 hatred is just too much. You've already listed the advantages but the damage/hatred is too low when you start inferno packs where you actually run out of hatred. Hitting for reduced damage vs electrified packs also suck. If Nether tentacles didn't consistently hit mobs for 2+ times I think there are alot of usable DH skills. Ball Lightning, Frost Arrow, Double Chakrams, Multishot. All do comprable aoe/damage/utility where there is no clear cut winner but the damage on Nether Tentacles is just too good. | ||
