Imagine if the Oilers had Bob Hartley whipping their asses like hes doing with the Flames.

EDIT: Also, they're a very soft team. No grit whatsoever.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/adam-oates-calls-out-alex-ovechkin-quit-on-the-play-dallas-stars/ but, if u want to win with Ovechkin on your team you have to use him the way Dale Hunter did. and whatever coach does this will be hated by Ovechkin. The root of the problem is Ovechkin being all "buddy buddy" with the ownership guys.

Without Ovie they would be a team losing money hand over fist! Ownership know where the money comes from and its him. Keep the money maker happy keeps your wallet happy

At some point I hope the hype dies down and some reality sets in. They just are not very good. The Oilers are awful but that doesn't discount the talent that a handful of their players do possess. Kind of like how Barry Sanders was awesome at football even though he played for the Lions. It's not his fault that the team surrounding him has the worst kind of garbage. Take Taylor Hall for example. In another season shortened by injury, he currently sits 4th in the NHL in even-strength scoring. When watching him play, it is obvious that the Oilers entire zone-entry strategy is "uhh, just give the puck to Hall." But he also suffers by playing for a team that spends about 45 minutes a night in its own end. That's not entirely his fault. To me, that's what makes watching this team so frustrating. Not that the talent hasn't emerged, but that it *is* there and it is being completely wasted. We have a guy like Hall putting together another superb season and it's squandered in another impotent, lifeless Edmonton Oilers campaign. That has to be hard for a player. We are currently watching guys waste the prime years of their careers and will continue to unless the ship gets turned around (and at this point, it's hard to envision that happening).

for all those junior sabrematricians out there who never actually played a real game of hockey.. some people play better when they are angry... maybe you guys can find a taylor polynomial to approximate the "anger factor" in a player's performance. gratz to Gerrard on his induction into the QMJHL Hall of Fame last night. The Capitals announced today Ovechkin will not be made available for any interviews. it looks like Ovechkin needs a week to 10 days with his PR management team to formulate an official rebuttal to Adam Oates calling him out. What a clusterfuck.
