I love that this feature exists, but feel it's been almost overlooked, as an afterthought to the whole expansion in general.

It would be great to use for high-level Pro matches, or even allow other pros to take over and try where their teammates failed/succeeded...

have there been any cool replays or situations with Resume from Replay yet?

It was just used in Shoutcraft right at an important part of the game when qxc lagged out. Worked pretty well.

Someone should try and source Idra's replays from WCS and then do a "resume from ragequit" show.

That would be an awesome way to use the feature :-D

a couple times in proleague they've had to use resume from replay because someone lagged out.

i would also imagine that it would help pros train a lot more efficiently because instead of starting every game from scratch they could start from a certain time in the game and play in a specific situations multiple times in a row.

im not sure there's going to be any tournaments that allow redos, unless of-course someone lagged out, or let someone switch with their teammate to play the same game. seems like a kind of weird idea

There is a difference between "Take Command" where you replace the original players and "Recover Game" which requires the original players to be put back in their slots to resume an interrupted game.

The latter is what is being used in tournaments. I assume the OP is referring to the "Take Command" function?

I still have not seen it being used in tourneys. I guess both players were sort of awkwardly trying to do the best they could.... Especially at pro level play throw-offs like this are strange :-//

I don't understand why it does reveal the whole map, if you resume from replay you will always kind of see everything going on in the game. I wish you could choose and make it all black and then the host could just get vision or something.

watching the shoutcraft i feel its not a good idea (during battles only . . read this bit plz before you flame and bash ) but better than just gifting the win. the reason i dont think its a good idea is for these 2 reasons ands its valid because i fuckin say it is.

1. Coming back in from a dc. Pro players have the time and extended thought to do it again. watching the qxc game today on shoutcraft, would he have done what he did to defend the attack in the first place? We will never know. Qxc had time to assess his situation (not only did tb and greg commentate possible ways to get out of this situation) and do the best possible job

2. Ive replayed my own games and won on the second time! (nearly every time ive resumed)this alone means that even me, not as good as the pros can think it out and get the maximum out fo what i had

Its great that we can do it ,not saying anything about that but resuming from replay for me is a shitty way to go in my opinion if its to be resumed during a timed battle

It is not backwards compatible, so it does not work.

As far as I know, "Recover Game" does not reveal anything while the engine renders the game up to the resume point?

I think only "Take Command" does that.

Yes, you are right. It did happen once in a tourney where noob admins used 'Take Command' to recover a game so players were like 'wtf idiots we can see everything' ^_^ Not sure which tournament it was though.

Some casters (e.g., TotalBiscuit I remember) didn't help either by consistently calling it 'Take Command' when referring to 'Recover Game' when HotS was just out. Some people just genuinely didn't know about the Recover Game feature or how to access it and in their defense right clicking on a replay is somewhat obscure as right click context menus are hardly used in the entire Bnet UI.

But as you said, doing 'Recover Game' will just show a loading screen when the game is being fast forwarded so players won't see anything.

Just wondering, did Blizzard ever fix the bug where the resumed replays don't save camera hotkeys properly? That was a really annoying issue especially if you needed to resume from the middle of a battle and couldn't afford to spend the time resetting them.
