But I do respect Ted's boldness. We all thought about Ted. What does Marco have to say about this? Do we care about what Marco thinks? Not really...

The interesting thing to note here is that there is absolutely no actual reason why this should be the case, except for you wanting to hijack the normal process to ensure your ideological positions prevail.

Says the person who called it a great day for America. These seats obviously matter, and are obviously political. So yeah, I want a conservative appointed (or at least a moderate) over a liberal.

Oh sure, the Republicans can block it, but is it gonna be worth it? It's going to hurt them. It's not a hill they want to die on, though based on recent history they haven't been particularly good at picking hills.

Lets assume a Democrat wins (not unlikely atm) Will the Senate respect the wishes of the new president and accept a liberal judge? They are now repeatedly saying the next president should decide. We all know they wont just accept it if they are not the one providing the president.

But will they? this just seems like another huge PR loss for them if they block this until a new president gets elected. Imo there's just no way they get away with that during this time without taking a good loss of votes in the general with how everyone is still pissed about the shutdown. Sure it isn't really related but people are going to be reminded of that imagine of Republicans blocking shit for the lulz.

He is going to nomination someone and they are going to get confirmed. This isn't anything new. Justices have died during elections before. Obama was elected for 4 years, his term isn't up. The average confirmation of a justice took 74 days, he has over 300 left. Attempting to hold it up until after the election is political suicide, just like the government shut down. It will be on every news segment, every day until the seat is filled.
