The use of Shift/Ctrl/Alt keys in combination with number keys are what cause these issues, and they should seriously look into a different approach. Got any source for your claims?

you can also swap the space bar with your control key (or any other two keys) outside of sc2. like right now i am typing this with the ctrl key as my space bar which slows me down, but then in-game the space is my ctrl key =D. i use a razer marauder and can swap the key functions within the razer software. then, the key swap is about three clicks away. there are other ways to do this as well if you don't own a razer keyboard...i think. gl hf

I thought it was your cubital tunnel that affected that side of the hand? I've had cubital tunnel issues since november. Carpal is the thumb and index finger side of the hand. Cubital is pinky and ring from what I'm told.

Thanks, I will try and see of my laptop keyboard can reprogram.. it's designed by steel-series so there hopefully is some functionality.

You realize the pinky finger has nothing to do with carpal tunnel right? xD
|
why not remap capslock to control? you dont need capslock anyway, and its pretty easy to do in any operating system, especially OS X. i can't imagine playing any other way, although i guess that could be a problem at LANs if you can't set it up the way you want.

What I would've loved to do but couldn't with a razer mouse is use a ctrl+click macro for the middle mouse button. I feel this would help so much, especially for a Zerg struggling to select zerglings and such. Is anyone doing that?
|
You are wrong, carpal tunnel is caused by an abnormally high repetition of movements. Ctrl/shift have nothing to do with it.
|
I have CTRL mapped to capslock via a switch on my keyboard, makes it a lot more comfortable.

As someone with CTS, I find this OP nonsense. Do you even know what CTS is? Or what causes it?
<edit> realised my post wasn't useful at all, CTS is a repetitive strain injury caused by repetitive movement, ie spamming ANY keys this is why I play with about 80ish apm, because I try my best not to over spam keys when I play. Your mouse hand is far more prone to it than your keyboard hand. It affects the thumb and 2 forefingers on the right side on your left hand, not your pinky finger. It's an entirely different nerve.
The median nerve whats effected by CTS, pressure builds up in the carpal sheath due to scar tissue/odema(swelling) so its actually more to do with your wrist than you fingers.
Misinformation like this is dangerous, you should atleast try to google something to make sure you have your facts straight before making a thread on a site populated entirely by gamers.
I hope no-one takes this shit seriously!

Thumb

So you have your wrists straight and elbows at 90 degree angles, then your knees should be at 90 degrees too. Like this: ![[image loading]](http://exercisestoimproveposture.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/posture77.jpg) This has to be common knowledge for sure? I've had this setup for about 10 years, it also feels the best if you sit like this, sure I might hang back when I'm watching a youtube/movie-clip (as in, my whole chair hangs backwards) but my basic posture is this.

NO, this is different. you can't make "space + 1" = create control group 1. only "alt," "ctrl," and "shift" can serve the function of "space" in that equation...so remap any other key, using external software, to the function of alt, ctrl, or shift and THEN change your in-game hotkeys. OR, not.
