But they aren't so good for typing :\ brown is pretty much tactile feedback, blues are tactile plus clicks. Browns are pretty good for RTS though! (actually to my belief, they're more versatile)

As long as you don't mind the clicks(or have anyone around you that is), blues are awesome! The tactile feedback is not denying you to bottom out and holding the button down.

The red is absolutely wonderful, linear but soft enough for continuous typing.

Why do you need to be precise with your keyboard? If you spam enough, one of the keys will get hit.. you just need to be careful with your mouse.

The switches are all really close together, and they are all good for typing and playing games, it just matters on the users preference.

Why do you need to be precise with your keyboard? If you spam enough, one of the keys will get hit.. you just need to be careful with your mouse. That is a horrid mindset to have. What if you click B instead of V when you need to build a building? Then you either build the wrong building or are stuck on the basic build structure and have to take time to press ESC to clear it and that takes valuable time. You don't need to be super fast in SC2 like broodwar, precision is better then speed. They have the same feel as blues except you don't get such a loud click. Browns are still plenty loud usually, even if you type softly. I would recommend Blues or Browns. Black are my least favorite switch. Your hands get tired after awhile. Reds are okay, as long as your are a precise with your typing and arn't worried about occasional miss clicks.

Every switch type has been called bad for every kind of activity in this thread. It's all personal preference.

Actuation Specifications "Linear Feel" (e.g. blacks) - ~2.1 oz (no additional tactile force) "Soft Tactile Feel" (e.g. browns) - ~2.0 oz and ~2.3 oz tactile force "Click Tactile Feel" (e.g. blues) - ~1.8 oz and ~2.1 oz tactile force (1oz = 28,349523125 g) http://www.cherrycorp.com/english/switches/key/mx.htm You need the same force for blue and black to press a key. Only brown are a little harder. But as Cherry mentions +/- 0.5 to 0.7 oz allowance, they are all pretty much the same. Exception are ofc switches that are modifications of the above mentioned (like reds) with more or less force but the same feel.

http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/ Features: Pick your own keys, what color they are, what font they are, what letters they are, allows two legends on the same key, different combinations of colored keys, ability to choose your switch type Check them out! The moment they get the dark purple color in, I'll be making my own custom board.

My point was that there won't be any problems holding the keys down whatever switch you go for. Black still feel like they need quite a bit more force to press down(from personal experience), because they are linear. In the end it's all about personal preference. Makes me wanna waste some moneh! ^^,+ Show Spoiler + Looks like a new site/company has popped up, showing off completely customizable keyboards. They look legit, and have been talking to geekhack on future features and options. I think everyone should check these guys out if you're looking to design a keyboard just for you, plus support a smaller, growing company who gives am amazing looking service. http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/ Features: Pick your own keys, what color they are, what font they are, what letters they are, allows two legends on the same key, different combinations of colored keys, ability to choose your switch type Check them out! Because this would fit to the data from Cherry. The lower you press the blacks, the harder it gets. Straight linear. Up to the point where the keypress is registered there is not much difference in the force (but in the feel). At the end, there is quite some difference. edit: But anyway with that much allowance Cherry is mentioning, everything can happen. I read about this the first time today. I mean what if there are two keys on a keyboard and one has +20g and the other -20g (0.7oz) operation force? Would still be OK on paper for Cherry (as I understand this +/-) but I think the user would have serious problems.
