What the hell are you talking about ? KT was predicted 1st place and was considered strongest team pre-season. Only when they went 0-3 at the start of the season that people began to say otherwise. Did you even read the pre-season team ranking thread ?

No, I'm pretty sure everyone besides known KT fans had Team 8, CJ and SKT over KT. Everyone though Team 8 was the dream team, that CJ was going to be unstoppably deep with Effort added to a stacked roster, and, well, SKT was the #1 team last proleague regular season.

I'd say KT was the consensus 3rd or 4th favorite. Shame how badly Team 8 imploded.

Can't say I thought so. This season went pretty much how I expected:
1. T8 would fail because of the shortcomings of Jaedong.
2. SKT would be at or very near the top.
3. KT would get a lower spot in the playoffs but manage to get to the finals.
4. CJ would do well enough in the season, and play like trash in the playoffs.

This seems like hindsight bias unless you can quote your pre-season prediction posts to prove you knew this would happen.

It's all just assuming that the season would go exactly like last season. Hardly an unreasonable or unexpected assumption.
I don't have too many posts about it because I don't mind keeping my predictions to myself. But I certainly did predict CJ losing badly to KT in the LR thread, which did happen.

i dont get 1.?
JD combined 12-6 with losses coming to the aces or very strong A-teamers of the other teams (excepting canata lul)
i think most neutral observers would chalk it down to, i don't know, sea's 4-10 record? (and the large number of 2-3 losses that followed)

Ever since he lost to Flash 3-0 in that MSL a while ago, Jaedong has never been the same. I've been saying this for over a year. Sure, the results are slow to show his weakness, but results aren't everything. Jaedong has been on a downward spiral for some time now, and T8 suffers in no small part from this.

You dodged the quesiton. You were saying "I was right all along" without actually pointing out that you were right all along.

No. Do you have a compulsory hostility reflex?

You pop into a thread just to talk about how right you were and end with a backhanded insult to KT. All you seem to do is be a passive aggressive antagonizing know it all.

It really sucks that T8 couldn't have made it in. They have 7 sets where the result went 2-3 in their disfavor. If only Sea could retain a miniscule percentage of his previous prowess...

I expected it would happen. I did not know it for sure. I didn't expect Khan in the top 4, for example.

I tell you trends I have seen occur and why I think those will lead to results similar to those we have seen, and you rush straight into a hostile reaction. I know you want to think that KT going to the finals was in some way unexpected or unlikely, but it was exactly what was most likely to happen.

I totally expected KT to win. Got the Liquitbets to prove it. It's just that every time any other team succeeds, your first post is always a backhanded insult to them ala "KT cheesing into the final was no surprise." You do this all the time and I call you out for it frequently. Stop being a jerk.

Letmelose formulated it well:
On March 25 2012 15:53 Letmelose wrote:
I like teams that have history and depth. Teams with interesting stories. Teams that create great players, not steal them from less financially stable teams.

Whenever I see the CJ team, I'm reminded of the glorius GO team that had the likes of Go_Rush, Nal_Ra, Midas, ForU, and of course, Xellos. Xellos was a GO man through and through, and stuck with his team and even shared is tournament winnings. The team just oozed class. Plus, coach Cho was awesome. Throughout the years we've seen the rise of so many generations of superb players from the team.

Team 8 reminds me of the now gone POS team and PLUS teams. How July came out of nowhere into superstardom. How he played his designted 1v1 games, 2v2 games as both zerg and terran, ACE matches, and to top things of even 1v1 games as a random player, to support his team while coach Ha constructed the team from rock bottom to discover stars such as Sea. How MBCGame eventually conquered all with their three musketeers. Or the parallel story from the PLUS team with Anytime, and their rise to the top only two years after being the worst team out there by far.

Then there are teams that steal. Like when KT snatched Flash when WeMade Fox was under financial stress. Especially so with SK Telecom T1 with the likes of Midas, and Bisu. Their success and victories are less meaningful because their stories can be summarized with "So we bought these guys, and some faltered because their drive was no longer there because of the high salaries, but it's okay because we also got some other guys and it worked out great for us."

SK Telecom T1 and KT are boring because they are the epitome of the financially stable teams. There are no odds stacked against them. There are no miracles. There are no superstars that come out of nowhere, only mercinaries. They are expected to do well, and often do well, and when they don't, it's okay because they can buy more players. Teams like MBCGame reached the top against all odds, but when they couln't keep their best future prospect in Bisu because of financial hardships, the miracle couldn't be sustained and now they're disbanded.

There's no uncertainty for the bigger teams, and while that may make things easier to support them, just know you're supporting the most boring teams also. A bigger trophy cabinet and fan base doesn't always mean a richer history.
"To all eSports fans, I want to be remembered as a progamer who can make something out of nothing, and someone who always does his best. I think that is the right way of living, and I'm always doing my best to follow that." - Jaedong. /watch?v=jfghAzJqAp0

Calling Flash a "bought off" player who isn't homegrown is asinine. B-Teamers change teams all the time and Flash was nothing more than that to Wemade.

Also, KT didn't "buy" mind. Mind had literally no team after wemade collapsed and KT picked him up. Would you rather he just stop playing altogether? What monsters KT are! Same goes to perfectman. That only "bought" player KT has since ForGG was Crazy Hydra. Everyone else was just refugees from dead teams who wouldn't be playing anymore if KT hadn't broke bank to keep them in the scene.

And it's nice calling Mind a "starleague winner." He hasn't been more than a blip on the radar since then -- KT wasn't clamoring to get him on the team before Wemade disbanded. And Luxury won his starleague title AFTER joining KT, before that he was the worse of two brothers on OGN. So no, KT didn't buy that starleague winner there, either. ForGG is the only starleague winner since fucking Nal_rA that KT bought from another team and KT's won one title and is about to be in another since he left.

Fuck, last year's best players were Flash, Stats, and Violet before he got fucking cancer. Step off.
Remember Violet.

Wow.. how can you be "pretty sure" about how "everyone" think about your team ? You're a mind-reader ? At least I had a thread to prove what I said : http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=282542, while what you said is just what you want it to be.

Sea, Jaedong, Killer, Baby. All of them disappointed this season.
Killer was a rising start last season and fell of a cliff.
Sea fell off a cliff.
Baby did well and fell off a cliff.
Jaedong fell off the cliff but started to climb back up.

Looks like T8 practice house is very close to a cliff.

Well KT doesn't have forGG and Luxury now, and almost every team this season has acquired players from the 3 disbanded teams.

Action was one of former Estro A-teamers. For the 2010-2011 season, almost every team picked up one or two Estro players from the disbanded team.

Last season, KT acquired Crazy-Hydra from Stars, but Stars likewise acquired Light from MBC.

This season is not as great a story, but it's still amazing. Before the start of the season, many predicted KT to be in last place. Nobody outside of the KT fans expected them to go all the way. They're not even in the discussion for the contenders.

Wow.. how can you be "pretty sure" about how "everyone" think about your team ? You're a mind-reader ? At least I had a thread to prove what I said : http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=282542, while what you said is just what you want it to be.

Hm, no, looks like we're both right. In the beginning of the thread KT got more support (from more KT fans, as I said) and at the end a lot more of the KT in 3rd/4th ranks started showing up. Like I said, most people suspected KT to be good but not the favorite. There were also other threads, like the Team 8 announcement thread where the idea of who was the strongest team preseason came up.
