I get an error 6:10 and lose server connection.Checked my speed last night and was at 7 Mb per second d/l so it's gotta be the server.

Prove my position that I doubt there is a universal advantage to one language keyboard over another? Unfortunately I do not have enough experience with other nations' keyboards to do that, but I'm sure the people who are arguing the PRESENCE of an advantage know more than I do as an individual that is formulating the normal null hypothesis that there is an ABSENCE of a difference.

You said it yourself, "yes it is probably easier to learn the hotkeys if you can change them however you want," and we can agree that bringing two keys closer makes it easier/faster to press them, right? I think that instead of doing some sort of keyboard test online to subjectively prove that 1p takes me more time than 1q, we can just agree that it is likely the case?

Obviously i meant you providing proof that custom hotkeys "are universally easier", whatever that means. That was and is your position.
It is easier to learn, that surely cannot be your whole argument though. That's exactly the effect we want to have. At the same time you always argued that it won't affect high lvl gameplay. So what is it now?
Sure, technically it allows you to be a bit faster. But does adding up these little gains actually have an actual impact on the gameplay? That's what you have to prove here. Just because there is a difference doesn't mean it's actually noticeable.
So where exactly is the negative aspect? Some people playing potentially a little bit better than they would with standard hotkeys? Is that why you keep on arguing against hotkeys while funnily enough saying that "you aren't even against them"?
Or is it appeal to tradition (again), "we had to learn it that way, you should too". It seems like that's the basis of your whole pov tbh.

In this instance, I was only addressing ONE element of the argument, namely that the stance of "certain languages are better than others, so that's why grid should be allowed." I asked the question, "which languages are better than others?" and you come in here and don't say a single word about what I asked, so I will kindly ask you to stop trying to dig up old shit and answer the question if you have it in you, or back off. I wasn't even addressing you, so why do you come at me to spew your same regurgitated shit? Take it to PM so that I, as well as the rest of the thread, can ignore it.

It doesn't really matter which language specifically has the "best hotkeys", considering that the hotkeys change it seems obvious that one of them has to be easier than the others. I would argue it's most likely not significantly easier and surely not as "easy" as the most efficient custom hotkey setups, but nobody actually has proven that the gap between standard bw hotkeys and most efficient custom hotkeys would actually make a noticeable impact. (at the state where you actually have learned the hotkeys)
But sure it is convenient that you simply don't wanna defend your "arguments" ever. I engage you directly, there were countless of other people having the same pov though (some who you probably even respect) and you didn't argue your point there either. I wonder why.

When I run Sc:BW launcher it tries to update the game every time and then Launch appears. Even if it just for few seconds, it stands at 65%, says updating and then Launch button appears. Anyone else got this?
Any way to not get this?

Can't you just open the game from the regular StarCraft.exe?

I forgot how bad of a company blizzard is. Only they could do something so bad with such an easy winning product.
Back to servers without the terrible now broodwar, which is now different. I bet they had to give it away free because all of those cds people bought no longer have the engine that currently runs the game.
This reminds me of all the failed patches over the years.
(p.s You new guys realize we played broodwar for YEARS before they added replays)

I could but launcher also checks for updates and it did update the game when that small patch last week happened.

Is there a tech support thread? If not, well, here's the problem I've been have: when I click on the bottom of the screen (say, the bottom half of the minimap) on my laptop it seems to send my mouse to the desktop while leaving the game up on the screen. Like, if I have YouTube open behind it and I click at the bottom and then the middle, it'll start up the video I had paused. If I click the bottom again, though, it puts the mouse back in StarCraft.

I can't tell if you are joking or not.
It seems like it was 3 or 4 years at least and then every patch broke the replays. There was no good option to patch switch until jca and bwchart in 2003 (?) Or 04.
I know that since patch 1.05 I have dreaded almost every patch.

starcraft was released march 98, brood war was released november 98, replays were added in may 2001.
