Brood War has no CD key. Only the base game has a CD key. They've done away with it since 1.18 (since the game is free now). EDIT: No CD key recquired for private servers (iCCup, etc). Thanks JungleTerrain.
What version of Windows/Mac are you running? Battle.net only has support for Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 now for version 1.18. (You can still play LAN with XP and Vista). Have you uninstalled and reinstalled? I had to do this fix earlier on Windows:

1) Uninstall the game
2) Delete the \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Blizzard Entertainment\Classic Launcher\s1t registry key
3) Reinstall.

You don't need a CD key to play on ICCup as it is not an official blizzard server

Am I the only one when I ALT+TAB my mouse get stuck in a small rectangle (probably the ghost 800*600 BW window rectangle) ? So ALT+TAB works but my mouse cursor is traped inside this rectangle, so annoying.

Do you experience only the mouse cursor being laggy-ish, or that all game graphics, particularly scrolling, is running slightly less smooth than on 1.16?
What kind of PC setup do you guys have?
Myself I have a first generation i5 processor with a stone age type of intel integrated graphics, and suspect that the reason for the slowness is that my graphics adapter can't keep up with the new opengl renderer. Supposedly a directx renderer was added to the latest patch, but there isn't an easy way for the user to select it yet.

Happens quite often to me. Alt tabbing to a different thing fixes it best for me.

That's in your graphics card settings, there is usually a box to check like "preserve aspect ratio".

It improves it but still isnt satisfying.
It still feels like dragging the mouse through water (before that its like through mud).

Bnet servers don't have ladder as of right now. And matchmaking/ladder will only be available for SC Remastered players. Overall, the level of skill on bnet servers is lower than ICCup (some people are completely new to the game), but every once in a while I get a decent player to play against.
I haven't been in ICCup in a bit so I can't say much about that server atm. I'm loving being able to host and I actually prefer the mouse sensitivity a lot more on 1.18 than 1.16. To each his own.

There's more players on battle.net than on iccup, that's for sure. The skill lvl on battle.net is actually not too bad... I've lost more games on b.net than I would have laddering on iccup.
