Would you rather he have been in gold league..? I'm sure if FlaSh wasn't immediately masters people would be saying it's because the skill cap was lowered so much in SC2 that lesser players can beat him... And that's not true? How?
I don't even know what you're asking. The guy I quoted is wrong because he said SC2 doesn't take so much skill but he's comparing getting to masters to being a pro gamer... That's completely illogical.
The skill cap is nowhere near getting reached in SC2 or players would all be getting around 50% win rates. Players like MKP can be completely dominate in TvP (>70% win rate) for example though. Parting is like 80% in PvT at the moment...
If it were so random players like MKP wouldn't exist...

It's odd that people still believe BW pros will dominate more than current Sc2 pros.
An example of this being blatantly wrong is fOrgg, who won an OSL by beating both Jaedong and Flash in pretty one-sided series, although he did fall off the map after his win he obviously has the skill to beat the best of BW, yet in Sc2 he is barely managing to stay in code S, and has himself stated that BW is not harder than Sc2.

He had the skill to beat them in 2008...the same year that July won an OSL... Seriously the dude was 8-22 in his last thirty games when he switched; I like forGG a lot, but he was not even mediocre when he switched.
Honestly this whole arguement is stupid. No one thinks it's going to be 1. Flash 2. Jaedong 3. Bisu 4. Stork 5. Fantasy 6. Soulkey 7. Stats 8. Leta, etc in that exact order, but the fact remains that MVP is the most talented BW player to switch and was the best SC2 player by far until his wrists basically died. There's no reason to think there isn't some correlation, even if it isn't necessarily 100% linear.

How the hell would you know what every unit does after 10 matches? Not every unit is used in every match, and you really have to actually use a unit to really understand it. I must have played at least 30 games before I realised that warp gates warped in units instantly.

fOrGG was probably the most 'luckiest' Major League winner since... Sync, back in 2002. He had the benefit of a map pool that greatly benefitted Terrans and as a team mate of Jaedong, knew him inside out.
People grossly overrate his skill level.

Is there a BitByBit BW pro to watch out for?

Let's be honest. Flash could simply faceroll to Diamond league. He would understand the basic ideas of the game by then... It's naive to think he didn't know what the units did. He obviously learnt the basics fast and went from there.

truly horrible news. glad that the skill differential between current bw pros and current sc2 pros will eventually be respected. sad that it will take place because of slaughter in sc2 and not slaughter in bw.

Well, I guess foreigner chances are over now.
Not sure what I think of this. This isn't good news for BW and I don't think SC2 is anywhere close to the beauty of SC2.

I WANNA SEE those written tests form SKT.

I like both games so I'm quite excited and optimistic about this
Just wonder how GOM will react to this, if this really gets SC2 going in Korea they sure as hell won't stand a chance against OGN...

Just read the OpticalShot blog... Pretty incredible conference.

Ok, I don't even understand why Flash getting to master's with 1 hand is even news. He probably has higher APM with just one hand than most people in master's anyways.
When a bunch of my BW playing friends switched over, none of them over C-, they all hit masters in less than a week. Some of them cheesed their way there without understanding anything of the game. I even know a former C- guy who 4gated every single game without building a single sentry that got to masters in 4 days.

BW pro have same chance of dominating SC2 Scene as SC2 current pro, maybe little more with the structur they already got, the fact is you can force Kasparov or fischer to play checkers, okay.. they will put the game at near his max skill then block, all we got now is a ultra light starcraft style game where players will try so hard to improve their play and always hurt the "skill limite cap" (lol), so please Blizzard modify deeply your game you will maybe hurting the " friendly gameplay style" of this game but then you can give us more cards and SC2 will have his chance to reach the legendary game who was his son

From podcasts and hinting it looks like its going to be clear at MLG Anaheim when the switch is going to occur and its seems like an MLG-OGN partnership is likely.

I just hope that SC2 becomes just as good as BW in the future.

It's interesting that the coach's are lamenting that SC1 never expanded enough outside of Korea. With the split league, there'll be ~100,000 new people watching BW for the first time. I really hope a lot of them stick with it.

if they really are a bunch of diamond league players with great mechanics it would make for some truly interesting games in proleague
