Progaming isn't healthy, not even in Korea. They can call it e-sports all they want but it remains a niche hobby with a small following that loses money every year. Hmmm, does it really lose money every year or are you just saying that?? Livestreams from teamliquid have more people on them I'm pretty sure, some 3700 people on roffles stream alone for osl finals, did that many people watch a finals on teamliquid in the past?? Also, progamers aren't all in bad health, look at Air Force Ace for example. They are a proteam with some pretty damn good players and every single member of the team is in good health.
I think he means that it's losing a following in korea. It's definitely growing in the foreign scene, now that we can get streams, etc. easier

Finally when I thought "NATE MSL" would be one to remember...
Guess we can always rely on the OSL.

If MBC still considers itself to be a competent corporation and still wants to save its face here, it must release some sort of official statement from its CEO and offer a satisfactory explanation for this disaster ASAP.
Just letting the Netizens run wild with their imagination isn't helping MBC's popularity.
Good thing that SC2 is coming. Otherwise, I'd be predicting the fall of e-sport within this decade.

Make way for GhemTV again.

Not having a live audience is just fucked up. The atmosphere won't feel exciting at all. I might as well just wait to watch the VODs on youtube.

they could make so much money from tickets if they changed venue.....

However, the virtual studio shit is pretty stupid. Not exactly sure what MBC is thinking on that, but someone, somewhere must have had his/her reasons. Known for a while *if* you happen to read Korean and knew about the capacity for the auditorium itself - which not even myself (working on the front line of Korean eSports.) knew until it was translated properly. I think all things considered people have a right to 'freak out' over how much of a crappy deal this is for the fans, both Korean who will now not be able to attend and foreign who will miss out on the atmosphere of a finals with the players in the same room as the fans - which a lot of us appreciate. Also 'which again, at most would have been about a 1000, even if open to the public' this is completely inaccurate. Especially for a finals with such high profile players. Even the shoddiest of finals (*coughKwanroCalmcough*) attracts more than 1000 people.
I meant that given the knowledge of the event location (and size), the attendence at most would be around a thousand people (even if open to the public, as opposed to only fanclubs/family/teams/etc), thus why it was already not going to be an 'epic' scene (like WCG/OSL). I wasn't stating that given unlimited seating/space, there would be at most a 1000 people in attendance.

The fact that they chose a smaller stadium is what seems the worst to me. Limiting the number of people who want to see the games live is just horrible.

It has already been said that they can't charge for these events.

why couldn't they have done this for the kwanro vs calm final? No one would've given a shit then

Its partly because of that that they went with a smaller venue. Since it had to be scheduled before they knew what the final ticket will look like, and attendance has been low in the past, MBC figured its better to have a smaller venue that is packed than a huge one that is mostly empty.
What would be more 'epic', seeing a full room of people cheering, or seeing an empty chair or two between every person?
Like I stated above, I can't really fault them for the smaller room, but I can (and do) for the 'virtual studio'.

Pretty lame but clearly shows why OSL is the most prestiged.

I bet this is a publicity stunt where the winner is set of fire back stage and BURSTS through the screen, still in flames, and jumps into the audience screaming.

What a great decision.
Best match up we could have asked for, and they do this to it.
THIS IS WHY WE CAN"T HAVE NICE THINGS.

Though this is pretty disappointing to say the least, I think that this this series will provide some great games to watch.
Hopefully MBC can get their shit together for the next OSL.

Guess we can always rely on the OSL. i'm sure if the games are good it will still be a memorable MSL regardless of the studio situation
