I, like many other people on IRC, am watching the WCG opening ceremony (Oh it's over now, thank god.). If you do NOT want your view on esports (and especially the wcg, assuming it is fairly positive right now) changed, DO NOT WATCH IT.
The horror that has come before me has ruined me. I am no longer innocent. I am going to set myself on fire.
Please.. don't watch it ;_; I love you all too much for you to be scarred like this.
For those who want to know what happened, but are too frightened to actually watch the opening ceremony
+ Show Spoiler +. It starts with epic fail by the commentators who for some reason can't distinguish flags and a black man that says hello 78 times.
It is briefly followed by a video of Cologne, showing completely irrelevant things,a speech from the president of Samsung electronics (which I suppose wasn't that bad), a speech by the mayor of cologne trying to pimp out Cologne for more events and an opera singer who has clearly never even bothered to read the lyrics, singing Beyond the Game, and last but not least, a virtual torch getting on stage and some failure fireworks.

The only reason that I root for WCG to succeed is it's one of the few places where esports is considered a way to make money. If WCG succeeds, then esports should succeed as well.
That being said, I think that they need to work on making it seem more professional...
