Hi everyone.
I got the call! I've been accepted to Chungnam University for 2/23 - 6/17!!!!
Depending on how my school situation works out, I will be going.
Since I probably wouldn't really have applied had it not been for someone and well the TL community.
I'll try and blog every week on life there as well as going to some of the events.
I hear the BIG show will be happening sometime where I am there.
Also....I'll do some giveaways if I can get some SC team merch.
yeah....so tips please if you know any or if anyone is going to be in South Korean and wants to be a girl's guide for a day or more lol.
I'll buy lunch or dinner as a thanks!
^_^
SO EXCITED!

Good luck! Sounds like a pretty fun time; don't forget to study hard, though!

I go to a school that's like 4 miles away, and live exactly half way between them. PM me sometime when you're in the area
|
Good luck dude, I hope you'll enjoy every minute of your visit to Korea.

..Whoa. I never even thought about applying to school in Korea.
I signed a contract that'll keep me in the States for a year, but I wonder if you could give me a bit of information on that?
I'll probably end up reading it and going, oh, that's cool, and pushing for a quick transfer to a UC, but.. :O

Best of luck, if you want to make Korean friends fast: 1) Learn Korean (duhhh) 2) Learn to drink (Koreans love heavy drinkers in general, especially if you're all cutesy and hilarious when drunk) this applies of course to both male and female 3) Learn to sing (Kareoke... drunk Kareoke is large part of social life) 4) Pick a favourite group in Kpop?

Korean BBQ is good.
when you have the chance eat at a place called 서래 (seorae) My absolute favorite korean bbq chain in all of Korea. If your korean is not good enough bring a korean friend. the menu has no english.
also i'm not sure if they have that restaurant outside of Seoul.

Congratulation :D

1. Samsung Khan jackets I'm pretty sure you can't buy any of the progamers' jackets =[ I've tried for OZ
2. Korean BBQ that is made in KOREA! (yum yum) Not all kbbq is good in Korea T_T The quality of meat in general was better overseas for me, since Korea imports a lot of its meat anyways(Canada, Australia, and of course, a not-so-secret lol, the US).
3. Learn to like soju? hahaha. I'm 21 already so drinking is fun If you drink enough, soju starts tasting sweet :3 Oh, and 참이슬 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 처음처럼 Stick with 참이슬 for soju. Korean beer sucks, don't try. Korean chicken and beer(치맥) though, is awesome<3 The chicken overrides how nasty the beer is.
4. Karaoke....in Korean =O Be careful of shifty places! Do NOT go anywhere advertising "도우미"s...

I've been to Korea, and my best advice would be to learn the language.
It's incredible how much more Koreans will respect you even when you greet them in Korean. If you can speak basic Korean, they are extremely impressed, and might even serve you in a restaurant.

-Yikes shady Korean Karaoke joints...I will be my best to avoid those and well hopefully I can make friends at Chungnam so I can avoid ending up in bad places.
@ DNB -
I will most definitely learn some basic Korean before leaving and well that's also something I can look up while on a plane. I am just worried about my pronunciation. I can say thank you and hello in Korean but that's about it right now...will learn some more over break.
Keep the tips and etc. coming!
Very helpful ^_^
