Who knew my first blog on tl.net would be related to SC2 O_Oa. Anyways, I've been seeing these, help me upgrade my computer blogs everywhere (cuz of sc2), so I have decided to make one as well. I actually have no idea when it comes to computers, at first, I was actually thinking of just increasing my ram to 4 GB from 2 GB but I want to ask you experts if I should make more changes to my comp.
My computer model is HP Pavillion All-in-One PC and these are my specs:
OPERATING SYSTEM:WINDOWS 2.6.1.7600 () CPU TYPE:AMD ATHLON(TM) X2 DUAL CORE PROCESSOR 3250E CPU SPEED (GHZ):1.52 SYSTEM MEMORY (GB):1.748 GRAPHICS CARD MODEL:ATI RADEON HD 3200 GRAPHICS GRAPHICS CARD DRIVER:ATIUMDAG.DLL DESKTOP RESOLUTION:1366X768 HARD DISK SIZE (GB):285.695 HARD DISK FREE SPACE (GB):263.288
Any input will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

$ limit?
Graphics card is the first thing that strikes me. I'd upgrade that first.
|
Oh ya, hmm I can go 500$ max. Sorry if I sound ignorant, but what's wrong with my graphics card? (I have no idea when it comes to comps t.t)
|
+1 for the graphics card, the rest seem fine enough :D
i haven't seen SC2 in action yet, but I doubt it will have too much more req than HON or something similar.
I recommend Radeon 4850 at least, I think its floating around 120 dollars? 4850 can run WC3 and COD4 fairly well on fairly high quality, so it should do good with SC2

Oh, forgot to ask, which graphics card do you guys recommend?
|
What is your power supply? How many watts?
|
Where do I find that? on the power supply it says 120 W. Thanks for the help btw.

First thing you are going to need to upgrade is your power supply. I would recommend a quality 500W PSU. A decent video card would be a 4850 1GB or a 5770.
I'm not sure how you can upgrade an all-in-one computer though.

I'm sure I can just take it apart lol. So, 500W PSU, a graphics card above 4850, got it! It wouldnt hurt for me to upgrade my ram right?
Edit: Oh wait, seems like power supply wasnt what I thought it was o.O

Yeah 2gb more of RAM will help the computer.

Edit: Oh wait, seems like power supply wasnt what I thought it was o.O Mate, I'm sure you can take it apart. The thing is, your machine (if it is what I think it is) has a very unusual form factor. A new graphics card, PSU etc may simply not fit in such a box. Sure, they'd be compatible but it's a physical limitation, not a technological limitation.
I would do a bit more research and/or open up your machine before you take this any further at all.
(I imagine RAM and CPU should be perfectly fine to upgrade though)
