yawn, at the usual nonsense, etc etc.
here's an example of kwark's posting which as usual cannot be actioned and doesn't even really get warned because he's a mod; sure RiK kinda deserves it, being the shitposter he is, but nonetheless: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/general/383301-us-politics-mega-thread?page=8837#176733
that's pretty blatant low content posting, especially doing it multiple times within a single page just to respond to different posts with a "lol"

RiK's posts are performance art. In one of them he claimed that the majority of voters voted for Trump, for example. In his most recent he posits that if the left were to simply understand that white people born today are too young to have been involved in the transatlantic slave trade then they wouldn't hate all white people.

There are just a few topics that don't go anywhere, racism being one of them.

A whole lot. Knowledge on american politics, deeper context for stuff that the media only superficially covers. Opposing points of view. I feel like my long term participation has made me more competent at debating, and that I don't fall into the pitfall of parodying american conservatives the way I used to - and which I feel is very common among europeans.

I know it sounds hipster and shitty to say this but the thread was a bit better before trump became president and kwark lost his passion. It used to be discussions about actual issues like health care and elections before it became a merry go round of surprising and alarming thing trump said/did.

That Trump ruins discourse is one of the most obvious negatives of his term. It's a hard thing to fix, too.

Amusement. Something I care about + time to kill. Discussion and the like are only secondary. By that ordering I mean that if I didn't enjoy it, I'd stop. So that makes it #1.

The whole reason why we got a Trump president is because the Lefty Obama went too arrogant and insulted him during the White House party.
And during Obama's reign, we got crazy anti white male.
Now its the backlash.

Ways in which he's the cause: grab the pitchforks, you're right. Ways in which he's the symptom of something bigger: ten pages on language, ten pages reinterpreting what you just said, ten pages on topic B ... and going. The forum's got a problem with it. I expect in another couple thousand it'll still have a problem with it.

going on 200+ years, so yeah, probably going to be an issue for many pages to come.

I have a better understanding of people who backed Bernie due to GH, even though I don't agree with him a lot. There are conservatives I enjoy talking to. There are some people who learn things about racism the thread, despite what some of the most prolific posters say.
I have to have these arguments in real life with family, where the stakes are much higher. The thread is a good way to get a better handle on my own views. Even if that involves a bunch of shit posting.
But 2017 is the year of shit posting. We are just following the lead of our government who is trying their damnedest to shit post in bill form.

It was kind of ruined before he became the story of the town. Though now it's a bit more naked and few if any people see anything wrong with shitting all over Trump and his ilk.
