Honestly the regular TL layout is so good I'd just prefer that it all fit on the screen, perhaps just minus some of the stuff on the right side of the forums, or somehow condense it all. I'll post a screenshot of what I see on my phone in a few hours after I sleep.

What's not to like about the new layout? Preference storing/cookie doesn't seem to be working, just been reverted to the mobile site for the third time today. On ipod touch fwiw. What's not to like about it? The full version works perfectly fine on my device so I have no need for it. And, funnily enough, the columns that are stripped down are the ones I use the most. If I want to go to the BW tourneys forum, I first need to actually click to bring the forums up, then scroll down past half of the SC2 forums that I have no interest in because the mobile site can't remember that I've shrunk them. If it gets turned back on again I'll see if it's harder than before to get to TLPD, calendar etc. I've yet to see any mobile site anywhere on the internet that I prefer. Other people's mileage may vary I guess and it'll work for them.

From what I've seen from other sites' mobile versions, they make the links easier to tap, without the need to zoom in. It'll be much easier if it's bigger - serving the main idea of mobile versions.

I browse TL on my phone to kill time mostly and the sidebar is perfect for that with providing a one look overview on interesting threads. Without the sidebar TL feels like just another forum - which should not be this way, as this IS Teamliquid. Please don't get me wrong, the mobile version is amazing and you've done an excellent job R1ch, but I think I will keep using the normal version just for the sidebar.

Even though the normal site doesnt't really take forever to load, this is still much welcomed. I would just like to request some stuff: - add liquibet please!!! - add a blog button please! - That's pretty much it. Keep up the great job. ![]() Great job all in all.

My thoughts, having to click forums to see them instead of having a bar is annoying same with streams. I'm glad there's an option to revert though. Its tough because you're faced with having to reformat TL while trying to keep its essence the same. Maybe it still just take time getting used to. I If had only one option to change something I would have a full forum sidebar on the homepage, but not anywhere else. This would keep the TL feel while granting the efficiency of a mobile viewing site while on all other pages.

I would also like bigger top buttons, the ones above the ad are especially hard to hit w/o zoom. It would also be great to be able to get to liquibet & FPL, even if it's just the full site version.

Anyway, I did notice that the "Old Post" image doesn't really integrate well with the mobile version. There's just a big white space after each old post where the "Old Post" image goes, and it's a bit jarring. If possible, changing that whitespace to the normal TL baby-blue (as it does on the normal site) would be a plus. Props to R1CH for the effort. I'm sure this will help a lot of people, so I applaud the wizard for his excellence in all things tech. That said, I will continue to use the desktop version when browsing on my iPhone.

Well, as far as I can tell there are no stream control functions. That would be nice to have. Also, I can't see a sidebar or a way to set preferences for what forums I'd particularly like to browse. Chances are, I don't need to see Community News etc first when scrolling through-- I know that news. I'm a huge SC2 fanboy.

Not sure why you would need that since I assume if you are streaming you would be on your pc, but I've never streamed so I could be mistaken. Regarding the Community News page, consider that as more like the Front page, or home. You can click on the forums link to see as much as or more than you would see on the sidebar, with the added bonus of extra screen real estate when reading threads. Perhaps collapsible forum sections would be nice for the Forums page, though.

Well say for example you're streaming and your PC crashes. You can't mark yourself offline immediately. If you have your phone and you want to use it to mark it offline, you won't be able to do so without using the full version of the site. Definitely not a major deal, but something I've thought about.

On May 24 2011 09:49 R1CH wrote: I was looking for Android since I figured that's what most people use. iPhone is still the most popular. Android marketshare numbers include a lot of really crappy phones running Android that aren't even smartphones. Could you please make the links at the top of the mobile site bigger? It's really hard to click Calender or Forums without accidentally clicking the banner ad. Also, if you could, please include an icon of a down pointing arrow near the top right corner of a forum thread page that jumps to the bottom of the page. Long threads can take a long time to scroll to the bottom of, and many other mobile optimized forums have this button to make it easier to get to the newest post at the bottom of a long page. Finally, for the Calender, is it at all possible to make the link take us to the most recent running event? It always takes us to the start of the page, and the next event could be at the end of the page, and it takes quite a while to scroll down a month's worth of events. Alternatively, you could button a button that jumps to the bottom of the events like the forum thread page button I suggested.

The mobile version doesn't load too much faster (especially on 5 bars of 3G or Wifi you can barely tell the difference) so idk how useful it is at this point. I like the idea, and think it should still be improved upon (hence this thread) but for right now I'm going with no thanks, I'll stick to the regular website

Other than that, I'm happy. I've got everything I could want from using the site on the go. EDIT: On that note, it would also be nice if the text for the topic listings was bigger. It's really hard to a) read and b) hit the "go to last page" arrow without zooming in.

It does make reading the site simple. I like this better than the iPhone app because I can actually post and navigate more easily. I may delete the app in favor of just bookmarking the site on my home screen. Would like to see the logo at the top. Retina quality graphic. Thanks again!

One thing though, and from reading the posts i can tell some people agree with me: It's kind of tiresome to have to zoom in/out all the time to navigate. I run a mobile site for a small community, and I think setting the "viewport" meta tag for the mobile site could improve the zoom situation: <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width,initial-scale=1.0" /> That tag will make the site zoom to the number of pixels available on the device (1:1 zoom for that particular device). Here's more info about "viewport" from the mozilla developer docs: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Mobile/Viewport_meta_tag Just a suggestion though. Keep up the good work!

The standard TL webpage loads faster for me than 90% of 'mobile' websites, and I feel like the mobile site doesn't really give itself an advantage over the standard website. Normally you'd see like larger buttons, tiered forum tabs, etc. This is just my reasoning for deciding to turn off the feature.

I will often want to go to either the last page or the first page, and only rarely to a page that doesn't directly precede or follow my current page. They should be, at the very least, bigger font. Ideally they'll have a bigger hitbox (maybe replace them with the words "first" and "last" so I can easily hit them, because at the moment I have to zoom in ridiculously to stand a hope in hell of not accidently jumping to page 2, or hitting all and ruining my precious bandwidth, etc. But apart from that I love it.

Typically there's a link at the bottom of the page to return back to the mobile version of the site so that people don't have to figure out the URL manually. Perhaps you could add one when time allows? Thanks! Edit: sorry for typos. On my phone obviously lol. Yeah i'm also looking for a way to turn mobile-mode back on... accidentally turned it off and now i can't recover the goodness ![]()

For me, when I go to the quote reply page, I crash a ton while typing up a reply. Doesn't seem to happen on the bottom reply section.

One change I'd like to see would be enlarging the page number links, maybe giving them a square button. They're kind of small and i miss the one im going for sometimes. As it is this is already much easier to browse on my phone. Thanks! This please! It's the only thing that's annoying me on the mobile version. (Samsung Galaxy S II)

![]() First of all, I think it would be beneficial with an official OP, containing a list of features that are being considered or not considered. It seems that this is the thread that people find when they wish to submit feedback, but you have to read through it all, and much of it is more than half a year old, before you get a picture of what is going on with the mobile version. I realize that keeping a proper OP up to date can be bothersome, but that's one of my two cents, anyway. The other cent is a suggestion on how to solve the small numbers when one tries to navigate: What about having huge image boxes (or just huge text size, I guess), saying First, Prev, Next, Last and then possibly page numbers inbetween Prev and Next, or maybe even a small field in which one can write the number of the page one wishes to go to? With a mobile device, I don't think it's equally important to keep navigation subtle, since the users, most likely, have scrolled a great deal already and won't ever see the pages in their intireties. Of course, I realize that you're doing a lot of work (awesome work, I may add; I love the Subscribed threads feature!) on other things as well, so I don't mean to nag, but that's precisely why an official OP would be beneficial. Then people would know when they could expect updates and when they wouldn't.

I'd love seeing something done about the small page numbers. 2. Also, maybe you could consider adding a comma in the post date (March 07, 2012 16:40) instead of (March 07 2012 16:40 ). Stupid Android browser interprets the middle part of the latter as a phone number and opens the phone application.

+ Show Spoiler + I accidentally reported someone (I think) when I tried to press a page number, so I'm making this post for the sole reason of reporting it, in order to see if it's reported right away or if I have to confirm reporting it. Although slightly off topic, I did it on my mobile phone and it happened because the numbers were so small. Edit: So I learned two things: 1) You can't report your own posts, and 2) you have to confirm the report as well as a reason. So no harm done, then ![]()

I can click one and zoom and have the page resize nicely so the entire article is legible without scrolling left or right to see the rest of it. But in the forums its perfect. I click zoom once and everything resize nicely. I'm unsure if that's an issue with the phone or coding but I thought I'd ask. Tl mobile is awesome and I really appreciate the work you put into it.
