This would only have practical value if it was like 10 times cheaper than regular meat. But the guy in the video seems to indicate that its actually more expensive to produce than meat. So there is really no point in eating your own feces, even if your poor.

well once the population reaches a critical number where our earth cannot supply us with enough food,
this would be an option even though there is a huge psychological barrier since in every culture excrements are considered as disgusting. (i.e. French eat snails,in asian countries they eat insects )

I don't understand people's overreactions. It's not like there is actual shit in the meat, it's synthesized from the proteins in human waste. It would be no different from any other kind of artificial meat as the source of the protein is irrelevant.

I'd imagine it's much more sanitary/less disgusting than most of the food you already eat. You'd get more actual poop from rat droppings in cereal.

If you grow grass in human feces, then let a cow eat that grass, then nobody would object to eating the meat of that cow. This is just a different way of extracting the same proteines.

It's just a bunch of dense, closely packed bacteria cultures grown in a lab. They got the bacterium from poop, so what? Poop is around 33% bacteria, 33% digested food, and 33% dead skin cells. They're just extracting the "good stuff" that we can eat.

When you look at the cellular level, cooked muscle and fat cells aren't going to be very different from this "bacteria brick" that they've made edible and nutritious. I say more power to them, if the cost comes down far enough this could be the answer to a lot of our 3rd world food issues.

If this mystery meat can feed starving people who would otherwise have nothing to eat, it's viable as a nutritional supplement and could aid in alleviating world hunger, but only if it can easily distributed to those who need it. As for those who can afford to eat real beef, I don't think they'd buy this stuff knowing where it comes from.

Also, from the sound of things, all you really need is a protein rich "substance" in this process. I wonder if this process could be applied to other sources of protein that are less shitty. Hemp grown in compost made with sewage, for example.

I think I need to go and read up on exactly how this works.

I don't... really see the point to be honest.
You can only do it once probably, because once you shit it out again, there can't be all that much good stuff in it left.
I wonder what a vegetarians standpoint on this would be.. On one side.. it's just poo. On the other, it's the poo of a man who ate an animal. Hmm.
