When you look at the cellular level, cooked muscle and fat cells aren't going to be very different from this "bacteria brick" that they've made edible and nutritious. I say more power to them, if the cost comes down far enough this could be the answer to a lot of our 3rd world food issues.
No, it wont be. People don't eat poop. Even if you actually got starving africans eating poop, it'd be like "Here you go, eat some shit". It's just not good PR.

Water.
The people saying that this is basically taking out the middle man (the cow) have a point, but I'm one of those people that eats food for enjoyment. I'm too old fashioned to eat some sort of pure protein thing, I'd rather eat a dry aged USDA prime ribeye steak. Horray for being a first world citizen.

astronauts already use pee to drink in space through some machine IIRC. also, wouldn't this hit some kind of diminishing returns at some point? since you're eating 1/3 of it every time...and so on. Now i just realized...do astronauts poo and what do they do with it...what a thread
Things that instantly came to mind: Soylent green, Cannibalism (how people literally get holes in their brain and go crazy from it), disgusting.
hhahahaha oh shit
so this is fake?
what tv channel is that!?
Yea, I've been thinking this was fake too. I was following this thread at first but I haven't read the last ten pages or so.
I can't find any other reputable news sources commenting on this story. And Yahoo news is, imo, only somewhat credible. We also don't know anything about who made the video...what outlet? The video is just plain funny. I can't take it seriously so I'm skeptical at this point.
I also googled feces and burger and scientist, then I translated it into Japanese. There are some Japanese sources reporting this, but again, I wasn't clear on their sources.
tl;dr I think the science is possible and I think it is reasonable so long as it can be made cost effective. However, given the lack of reporting on this coupled with the fact that the video is essentially sourceless, authorless, and hilarious, I don't believe this is true,
Well I suppose I'm dumb for thinking this is real when I saw where this was already done. Two people mentioned "Yes Men" and here is the video where they present "shit burgers" as a solution to solve third world hunger.
I guess I'm not sure if it's real or not still, but if there is a source that just doesn't end up linking back to Yahoo that would be nice.
Eat tasty stuff that you know was made from poo, and that represents a significant means of reducing waste.
or
Eat less healthy, somewhat more tasty stuff that comes from an animal that represents the most wasteful process that takes up a numerically significant portion of the world's total food production.
Provided the technology can be optimized, the environmental, moral and health choice is obvious.

LOL I like to imagine Bear Grylls just poking his head into this forum like, "Whoa wait, what are we talkin about in here??" (he'd be VERY intrigued by the subject)
