If it tastes like beef, has the same nutritional values (or even healthier!) than beef, than it may as well be beef for all I care. As stated in the article though, price is quite the issue at the moment.

As for googling it there really isn't anything that can prove without a doubt it's a hoax, but there are quite a few who say it is a hoax. Like this guy: But yeah the main reason this is probably a hoax is because the only source is the youtube video. The rest is just articles linking to each other making it seem like a genuine story. Okay, I googled a bit and found out that this story has already been reported in 1997 (!), which is probably the reason why everything looks so old. I found it mentioned in a book review in a SPIEGEL SPECIAL 11/1997. The book, which references this story is by Udo Pollmer, Cornelia Hoicke and Hans-Ulrich Grimm called "Vorsicht Geschmack - Was ist drin in Lebensmitteln?". Now, we could e-mail Mr. Pollmer and ask him about the story and reliable sources.

Mahlzeit! up"

A bit more on topic though, i wouldnt eat it if i knew what it was, but im a picky eater even when its not feces based. But seriously im just a clean person, not OCD or anything but even in preschool finger painting was the bane of my existence, i just dont like getting dirty and theres no way i would feel clean eating it. Now you can go and tell me the grossness that goes into all the other food i eat ( a teacher in highschool tried to ruin sausage for me) and i may overlook it...but id rather just not know as long as it tastes good.

The REAL use is to create yet another source of food for the soon to be poor people in our "developed" countries like the USA, Europe or even Russia and India. We really dont need more people on this planet and if some are dying then that is sad, but it is also a part of life. Life and death are inseparable and if too many people live on a piece of land that cant feed them some have to starve. It is the same for animals (when insects are in short supply due to a cold winter for example) and we have to respect nature and accept this fact.

Im a vegi and tbh, i don't see a problem with as long as they don't put meat in it. It's a difficult one though because it's not meat that your eatting so it is vegetarian but....
