Hi everyone, I'm virpi and this is another useless "look at me, I'm a newbie" blog.
I'd like to share some experiences with you and I will update this blog one time a week to keep track of my progress.

+ Show Spoiler [WEEK 1] +
WEEK 1
ZvT Seems to work well. Most terrans on my level have terribad mechanics - I always win, when the game is lasting longer than 10 minutes. Dealing with MMM is no problem at all, because they never manage to split their army fast enough. (fungal <3) The only strategies I keep losing to are these crazy marine / marauder all-ins. (bad scouting, too much drones)
Mech play ain't that hard to counter, too. (on my level!) It's an awesome feeling to mind control thors.
Some terrans seem to have some kind of brain lag, yesterday I won against a one-basing T, who built 10 banshees after 12 minutes. (I was on 4 bases...)
stats: 4-1
ZvP As mentioned above, I was playing protoss until now, so I've got basic knowledge about that matchup. Defending mass gate all-ins is quite easy for me, as long as I've scouted well enough.
Yesterday I lost a very long macro game, because I wasn't able to prevent him from expanding. (I died to a colossus/voidray/gateunits deathball.)
I haven't played against early air harassment yet...
stats: 3-3
ZvZ Oh well. My zvz is absolutely horrible. I lost to mass speedlings, burrowed roaches, mutalisks, banelings... the main problem is my micro. Even if I'm ahead I still have a tendency to fuck it up completely. I think practice will solve the problem.
stats: 0-4
note: not much games played yet -> very small sample size.
+ and -
+ I have the superior economy in most games
+ I hardly get supply stuck
- always forgetting larva inject in mid/lategame
- my style is too passive, I need to harass more
- micro (concaves, zergling micro)
goals for next week
getting better in zvz, memorizing basic timings and improving macro (LI).
Questions:
1. I'm searching for replays of macro-oriented zergs, who like to harass a lot. I don't know a lot about pro sc2, which player would you recommend to study?
2. Ultralisks seem to suck. Am I right?
Replays will come soon. (sc2replayed refuses to work for me right now...)

WEEK 2
general stuff
My broodwar mechanics are kicking in, so I basically have more stuff than my opponents, which is great. I prefer to open macro-heavy right now (15h) in non-mirror matchups, unless I sense some kind of early aggression. (most silver players aren't able to kill my scouting drone fast enough.)
There's one major thing that I'll have to adjust, though: As most of my opponents are bad, I have a tendency to overdrone.
matchup overview for week 2 (16-7)
ZvT: I really feel comfortable in this matchup. Muta/ling/bling is working fine. Most terrans at my level prefer to play completely hilarious all-in-builds. If I manage to scout well, the game is pretty much over. For example, one guy was building banshees out of 4 starports (he had 2 bases...). By that time I already had expanded twice and had produced a large flock of mutalisks.
I've got some problems in the lategame, though: My main problem right now is that I always forget to put up macro hatches, which leads to lots of excess minerals.
stats: 8-3
ZvP: This matchup is awkward. Aggressive openings are somewhat easy to counter, because the opponents' micro is bad, but I'm really struggling against mass blink stalkers in the later stages of the game. I think I'm going to stick to a macro-oriented massling-infestor-style, if this is going to happen again. Other than that, I should be able to just outplay most of my opponents right now. Aggression is the key.
stats: 7-3
ZvZ: There are no zerg players on my level. I've had two zvzs in my last 23 games. I lost one and I won one. Spectacular!
stats: 1-1
I think I'm going to to kick metalopolis and take taldarim instead.
+ and -
+ larva inject is getting better, at least until the 10 minute mark.
+ mechanics improve fast
+ macro is becoming decent (but not good...)
- bad lategame mechanics (massive overmins)
- bad positional play against tanks in some games
- not enough harassment
the WTF moment of the week
I played against a protoss on scrap station and he was one of those achievement farmers. After the game had started, he asked me to build changelings, because he needed to kill 8 of them to get an achievement.
He also built a massive amount of sentries and hallucinated about 20 colossi. (another achievement, I guess...)
After having secured complete mapcontrol I decided to do the kid a favor and invaded his main with 8 overseers. Changeling drop!
I'll never understand why people like achievements.
goals for next week
Four things: Getting to gold, Maintaining a >60% win percentage, getting better in zvz, improving the hotkey-setup (have to use the "higher" hotkeys...)
questions
1. In Broodwar I used to play a very aggressive zvz-style (mostly 9pool speed), because I wanted to dictate the tempo of the match. What are the non-allin-aequivalents to this in sc2? 14g/14p with speed?
2. Another zvz question: Is there any micro-map for zergling vs. baneling-fights?
replays
I didn't lose very often, and the games I lost were to all-ins, which I didn't scout properly.
But here's one macro game (zvt), where I played very bad and lost:
And here is one winning replay: (mostly for the lulz, don't know why the pic is from shakuras...)
