After DRG´s third was up and running and he popped mutas i was sure there was no way for MMA to comeback.
And that insane comeback was much more due to MMA´s SICK hand targeting banes and insane boxer-like drops then to DRG´s bad decision-making or whatever.
MANA VS NAAMA G3, NESTEA VS SCFOU G5, MKP VS KYRIX G5 AND NOW MMA VS DONGRAEGU G9 OF GSTL 03. These deserve the word EPIC to describe them.
MMA upgrades played a big part too from the mid onward, I don't think DRG ever went passed 1/1 ground and 0/1 air whereas by the end MMA had 3/3 bio and 3/0(not sure actually if he got vehicle armour)

Oh my effing god. Whoever voted No for game 9 is seriously not smart. Most amazing tournament series I have ever watched, ever. What an epic finish as well.
|
I liked the ace match so intense =D hehehe MMA fightin!
|
Hey I just watched GSTL Finals... wow! That was just insane, from the ceremonies to the extreme ace match between MMA and Dongraegu, just wow.
gg gomtv this tournament was insane. Once again this shows that live events are the best
Also I'm afraid that MMA is going to destroy MLG, but we'll see

I'm glad MVP proved they deserved to be there (since they kinda "replaced" IM).

MVP played great, and DRG is just an amazing player in general, but Boxer leading a team with talent like that of MMA, it's just going to be a nearly insurmountable task.
Congrats to MVP for making it this far and SICK props for taking it to the ace match with momentum, but even greater props to the insanely solid team of Slayers. Seriously, they are just so frickin BROAD in their lineup. They always seem to have some amazing closet-gosu waiting to step up to the task while also hosting stars like MMA to take down the crown. They are just SO GOOOOD.
Slayers fighting!

omfg, only just found time to watch the vods of the finals... and OHHHHHHHHHHHHH MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM GGGGGGGGGGGGG.
Man those were some awesome games, and to top it of with the MMA vs Dongraegu game. That was just damn amazing.
Though i have to say, i was already a fan of Slayers, but i became a huge fan of MVP too. I liked how they were in the GSTL! definitely looking forward to see more of them.

team house attack! is it scripted?

Just watched the finals, it really was an exciting game. I feel like DRG had a brilliant chance to take a startling lead at around the 26 minute mark that he missed. Right after MMA did the elevator onto the six o'clock main, DRG moves in this mutas and lings, kills most of the stuff on the low ground and moves up past the X'el Naga Tower. Here he moved into MMA's gold base instead of his main, and immediately his army dissolved. Of course MMA played a beautiful game after an opening I think left him a little behind, and DRG played quite brilliantly as well, but if he had just thrown that army at MMA's main instead of gold I think he would have had a stronger chance to win. (I'm unaware if there was actually a group reinforcements waiting at MMA's main, which would of course change this, but I feel it was less defended than the planetary gold)

Wow...MMA...Didn't think he could do it again, but he is really too amazing.
...I'm not crying, there's just something in my eye.

MMA played brilliantly, but had DRG not ran his maxed army of lings and banelings right into a line of 10+ siege tanks, he could have / should have / would have taken the game shortly thereafter.
But he made one very bad decision and clearly the best player won because MMA's play was rock solid.
SO painful to watch that moment though, he lost so much in those first couple siege tank volleys it was ridiculous. 100+ supply of ling / bling into double digit sieged up tanks does not end very well.
It strikes me as quite odd that Doa / Moletrap didn't make a bigger deal out of that engagement because that is really when he lost the game. MMA's drop play was super clutch too, but that battle is what allowed him to pull ahead.
|
Yes, I feel that battle is what decided the winner. If DRG attacked for 2 side and not from one he would have came on top. Also later he had some bad infestor micro.
Great tournament, only thing that saddened me was not DRG getting MVP status. MMA did win in the end but DRG won more games and against better players.

Wow, once again GSTL with such epic games. I'm so glad we're going to be seeing it more regularly from now on. Grats to SlayerS once again.
|
The reason he won that fight was purely luck though. Had his marines been in front like they usually would have been, he would have lost that fight because the banelings would have splashed on them and not the tanks (letting the mutas clean everything up). Instead, his marines were out of position letting them massacre the banelings/lings with volleys and having them explode on the tanks... leaving the mutas to fight the marines. Mutas were barely upgraded so the marines tore them apart.
1 part luck, 2 parts skill.

MMA is really good, I have seen plenty of games where he is behind and manages to come back in the late game because he is REALLY good at multitasking. His drop harrasment is just awesome.
I just have to say WOW to Slayers taking their second GSTL, that is just extremely impressive, showing that Boxer really got a good team going.
