My friend and I are arguing about what accent the Battlecruiser has. I'm saying it's Russian and my friend says it's Romanian.
A thread on Quora says that it's Lithuanian/Russian.
Personally I think Russian makes far more sense than Romanian because Russia has had huge navies while I'm pretty sure Romania has never had a Battlecruiser since WWI.

No offense, but I doubt that anyone important enough in the blizz company to decide about stuff like that knows how a romanian accent sounds like (neither do I).
It's supposed to be Russian but it's an English voice actor who probably hasn't studied the accent too heavily so it's not a perfect imitation by any means which leaves an awkward situation. If it's supposed to be Russian but isn't that great of an imitation does that mean it is or isn't Russian?
Perfect example of this is Dukov from Fallout 3. The character is supposed to be Russian but the English voice actor has no idea what he's doing. The accent bounces between Russian, French, and something imaginary to create a weird accent that doesn't exist in reality.
If you're just talking about the character then I suppose both Dukov and the Battlecruiser Commander are Russian but if you're talking about their accent then neither are very Russian although they're both trying to be.
I'd love to hear what the BC sounds like in the Russian version.
Also concerning the relationship between the BC and Russia's warships, is the Yamato Cannon a reference to the battleship Yamato (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_battleship_Yamato) or space battleship Yamato (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Battleship_Yamato). That's the question I always ponder when it comes to SC and real world references.
