Last Saturday, the University of New South Wales Starcraft Society held a GSL finals viewing at their uni. The whole thing eventually consisted of 50-60 people all in one lecture hall from within UNSW and outside.
Though the games may have been average, the atmosphere and the fact that we finally have a live event like this made it the highlight of the semester .
If you live in Sydney and want to keep up with events from USYD and UNSW's Starcraft Societies: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=2361831622#!/group.php?gid=119040938154611

Huge success, and thanks to UNSW for holding this one. Hopefully GSL in July will be even bigger!

Hopefully next time I won't have a soccer game at the same time =( Looks like I missed out on a lot of fun.
|
Yeah!! =] Thanks all for coming, hoping to see more faces next time, and see you all in July!
|
Looks awesome. Cool to see these events all around.

Was good but uni net let us down. Any plans for gstl mlg or lg world tourney??
|
Events like this is one of the reasons why i play starcraft~!
|
had a great time, thanks for organising it!! :D

Great event guys! The turnout was nice and I am sure it will be even better next time around. Free drinks and snacks was super awesome, too.
Props to the techxperts for trying their best to get things working. Overall I really enjoyed myself and I personally feel that this was a very good first event (aside from Inca sucking bawlz, but that's another story for another time).
Also thanks to Brijan for taking the pictures.
Keep'em coming! :D

Shame the games were less competition, more nestea roflstomp.
@brijan, question regarding USYD+ UNSW StarSoc. I'm a member (I'm actually the guy in the red shirt in the first photo :D), and was just wondering what sort of skill composition the society is made up of. I'm high plat/low diamond, and wondered if everyone there is masters/GM, or if it's more varied?

Yeh the game's were fairly average.
It's kind of...like an hourglass I guess? With a large bottom. The thing is with leagues is that everyone pools at diamond after they get there. Once you hit a decent level of gold, the skill differential is not too great from plat/low diamond and people have a good grasp of how to improve by then. But at the same time, a lot of people find it very difficult to get out of bronze especially with the amount of cheese. They become demoralised and don't ladder/stick to team games.
Good to see another TL user turn up.

That reminds me - thanks to Peter (AKA Crucius) for having the foresight of bringing a camera on the night.

GSTL would have been good, but perhaps a little too close to the GSL finals? we're a little busy coordinating the next event + assignments Considerations for MLG and world tourn. are taken and will be considered! :D
|
Oh man MLG would be a great event. Could cover multiple games instead of just the finals since it all happens on one day, order some pizza, make it awesome. Happens during exam period... We'll see :D
|
Great event, had a blast. Thanks guys for organising everything (including free drinks and food!) as well as expert computer crisis management =)
Looking forward to next time!
|
Damn missed out on this one. I'll definitely be at the next one.

MLG's at a weird time though ><. Like hell I'm coming to uni at 7am. Do the MSL finals, you know you want to lol.
I came in at 4:45 and thought that NesTea had already won lol. Shame the finals were so damn one sided. But oh well, it was fun (even though I didn't get a free drink). I don't play SC2 atm (wanna get to C- on Iccup this season/next season), but if you guys ever hold a LAN or something (like this) i'd come.

Nazza - we're organising more events, and there are plenty that aren't GSL/tournament watching events that we've thought of that don't require you to play!
We'll consider doing the MSL though not sure how many BW fans there are?
