Dear TL...
I need some ideas. It is finals week and I am feeling so mentally burned out. I have already had a final, and I have two tomorrow.
I have already gone through about 2000 pages of reading overall, and my mind just feels like it can't process more. For my first final I had to memorize a TON of stuff that was just route memorization (titles, painters, and dates of so many paintings), and I feel like my mind doesn't have room for any new information right now. I can't focus for very long on whatever I am trying to review before the words just run past my eyes without any retention. (I am not learning everything last minute-- I have a good understanding of the overall concepts, but I need to get down the details, which I generally am pretty good at when I can focus.)
I am trying to take notes as I read to help me retain stuff better, but I am finding myself reading the same paragraph over and over to try to understand what it's saying before I can write stuffs down. I only have 150 pages of Astronomy textbook left to review, which at the beginning of the week would have taken me about 3 hours. At the pace it's going now I don't know if I can finish it in 12 hours. I really would like to finish this within 6 hours or so, so that I can get a good night's sleep before my first exam tomorrow, and hopefully have an hour or so to quickly run over the lecture notes one last time.
I have tried taking breaks to get up and go outside, to play some music on the piano, eat something, drink some caffeine... it's not working. I got 8 hours of sleep last night, so I am not sleep deprived-- my brain is just stuffed. I appeal to you all for ideas for renewing my focus (besides prescription drugs ). What do you do when you are brain dead?

Try ephedrin, it's sells in nearly every drugstore, it's used normmaly to help with head pains but if u take 2-3 u will see a boost in your concentration and couple that with cofee it will help u rush trough ur studie. It's also a degrades itself entirely in your body so at the end of teh day u won't have any trace of it in your body, just know that once u take it coupled with coffee u wont be able to sleep for the next 6 hours

Maybe you need to let your brain relax a bit. I don't know if you'll be able to sleep since you aren't sleep deprived, but you seem to have learned enough, and perhaps the best thing you can do for yourself is to watch a funny movie or something not very brain intensive or just chat with a friend. I know that after a month of studying for the SAT 1, I took a day off just before the test. I reviewed a few key flash cards, and definitions because I couldn't help myself. But for the rest of the day, I just watched TV, prepared my stuff, and planned the next day. I relaxed myself.
I haven't gotten a brain lock where I couldn't continue studying. The worst I've gotten is massive headaches from not sleeping enough, and tylenol helped there.

I would like to know too O_O. I have 2 exams within the next 36 hours and probably won't get any sleep at all.

Throw on some music? Although studying without music is more ideal for the learning process, I find I study way longer with music than without. I'd rather study for 10 hours with music than 2 hours without.

Hope you guys are not cardiac... This shit could be dangerous especially mixed with cofee. Just eat light, do a couple of push ups every hours, meditate a bit (just relax every hour before your push ups and drinks alot of water; don't kill yourself dude.
Oh and cofee is a really short term benefit.

I didn't really plan on using it, but it would be nice to know. I somehow got all my shit done throughout the night. I'm gona sleep when I get home at 1 and then study all night again for my last final. Should be fine. Suffice it to say, coffee has been my best friend for the past 6 hours.
