Damn.. if this is true im in deep shit! couse 11/11/11 Is my 20th birthday! Numerology wise 11/11/11 is a very special date, but that was 2 years ago (11/11/2009) 11 being a 'master' number... and 33 being the highest master number So maybe you're safe (and before anyone bashes on numerology: Pythagoras was a believer) ;D

on topic: I really believe that if Aliens had the chance to find us among the numerous stars, they wouldnt just come and hover here and there before leaving. They would either destroy us or avoid us altogether (orbital observation) or broadcast on multiple frequencies (if they wanted to communicate, I mean why would they feel the need to talk to our governments, how would they even know who rules where?). Look at human history, it usually turned out badly when a culture encountered another one for the first time (slavery, mass extermination...) or a new animal species (studies, in vivo dissection etc...) EDIT: apologies, I actually missed your initial question: I believe medias are using this because it works, therefore they have more people watching such programs/videos, hereby making more money

http://www.amazon.com/UFOs-Generals-Pilots-Government-Officials/dp/0307716848 its about government officials, pilots and army generals (and other high level people) giving their testimonies about their UFOs sightings and encounters. i think its the best book on the subject which tries to bring some credibility to the UFO debate again after so much bs and hoaxes when people like Gordon Cooper, Edgar Mitchell, lord Peter Hill Norton can talk seriously about UFOs, i think everybody should - thats for people who dismiss everything related to UFO far too early but on the other hand the truth is there is no hard scientific evidence of aliens visiting earth etc., only these testimonies or anecdotes, and maybe some radar recordings..

Marx described science as man's perfect invention because science corrects itself when it finds itself wrong in the past. He was comparing this to religion which he said was the cause for human suffering (Man creates God and then creates rules for himself to break to justify feeling bad in this world). But really, science is the just a giant list of things we were wrong about before. Some people just "need" those facts before they can accept something (like flipping a switch in the mind from "fuck that" to "okay") but I think nowadays it's much more impressive (and difficult) to believe rather than not. Everyone is a fucking skeptic and people like harassing others over ideological differences. But really, I pity the skeptics.

If anything, I'll give you consolidation by saying I APPRECIATE the video, and yeah they are strange, but very awesome looking things. Uhh... Yeah. You do realize atheism is based on open-mindedness. Skepticism doesn't equate to ignorance.

I'm on the fence about whether or not I believe in aliens, but I'm always interested in purported sightings/contact. The Belgian Wave is still pretty interesting to me.

Do you believe there is even the remotest possibility, that there is life out there, besides just us. If your answer is yes, well then? If you answer is no, then I guess that's that.

If i recall correctly we are currently in the 3rd or 4th era, and still there. This reminds me of the middle age fear of the year 1000... on topic: I really believe that if Aliens had the chance to find us among the numerous stars, they wouldnt just come and hover here and there before leaving. EDIT: apologies, I actually missed your initial question: I believe medias are using this because it works, therefore they have more people watching such programs/videos, hereby making more money I agree with this post, except for the idea that they might destroy us. While i do not for certain believe that aliens have visited earth, it doesn't mean that if they did, they would just announce themselves to the world. Think about it logically, why would the aliens kill us off? For what purpose? Certainly not for resources or for real estate. Your talking about an intelligent race with the capability to even get here in the first place. We're talking thousands of years ahead of us. A race capable of traveling light years, is certainly a race capable not only of having renewable and limitless energy, but also of terraforming planets. They wouldn't need to enslave us, they wouldnt need to destroy us. IMO they MIGHT approach us the same way our biologists approach their research. ie. They go and study ants, just to learn about them, out of curiosity and to attain knowledge, to classify the ant and track its habits as a species. And biologists only make up a tiny percentage of our population. Maybe the aliens that do visit our planet, are the tiny, minuscule branch of biologists of their race. I don't see a reason for the aliens to intervene in our culture and somehow try to help us out. If anything they'd let us do that on our own, after witnessing the atrocities and greed humans are capable of, why would they give us more power when were incapable of handling the power we already have? It just doesn't make sense. However, it doesn't mean they wouldn't be interested in us at least from an educational standpoint. That might be enough reason for them to visit, its possible. Also, for people saying that its highly unlikely that there are alot of other intelligent species, i think thats false. Take our own civilization for example. Look how little (relatively speaking of course) time its taken our civilization to achieve the technological point we're at today. And its actually speeding up. We went from black and white tv sets, to iphones and instant global communication for almost everyone in the world in the life of my...grandma. That's a blink in the greater scheme of time. Its only logical that if we don't destroy ourselves, we're very likely to reach a technological singularity in the very near future. A future where we evolve OURSELVES. We blur the line between homo sapien and machine. The capabilities of our race will eventually only be limited by the limits of physics itself. And it will only have taken us a few thousand years to achieve this. The same might and probably is true for other races in other worlds. Given even a slight chance at survival, an intelligent race spawning up at the right moment so that no natural disaster kills it (ie. asteroid), it doesn't destroy itself, it should eventually reach a very high technological level in thousands of years, and definitely not millions of years. How old is our universe? How many planets have we so far found in the goldilocks zone? And we've only been looking a year or two maybe? So how many of these blinks in time actually never went anywhere and how many actually became something. It seems very probable to me that intelligent life is not only out there, but plentiful. If ur still skeptical, get that program that lets you look at planets and such, starry night i think its called. Start on our planet and slowly zoom out, past our solar system, past our galaxy, past our galaxy CLUSTERS, past our galaxy cluster CLUSTERS, and you will slowly realize just how fucking big this place is. And how ridiculous it would be to assume there isnt intelligent life. The logical and probable line of thinking is that there IS, not that there isnt. for those of you ineterested in what a technological singularity is and when we might achieve it you can visit these pages: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technological_singularity http://www.singularity2050.com/2009/05/seti-and-the-singularity.html ^very interesting info. in the second one. planets found by kepler so far. launched last year i believe: http://www.space.com/11279-nasa-alien-planets-image-1235-exoplanets.html http://www.space.com/11188-alien-earths-planets-sun-stars.html
