Looks like the English stream is also casting Ver now. Or not..... streamers are disorganized and giving mixed messages. And now neither streamer is going to cast Ver's games..... Ugh.....

Why are the games so big? 30 players in insane mafia, 40 players in the <insert roman numerals> game...wouldn't it be sensible to keep smaller player counts and have more games?

You should be seeing some minis popping up in relatively short order, but minis end kind of quickly. Also IMO larger games are more fun. PS. Ver Fighting! EDIT: Ver lost >.<

The thing about big games is at a point it becomes a headache to keep track of everything; esp when you have a limited number of posts per page viewable. Lots of players means lots of pages fast.

What do you consider a mini then? I mean if you do much less than say 9 you start dangerously close to lylo and give very little room for any interesting roles

The thing is, 30-40 player games aren't really big for us here. The first 10ish games on TL were at least 60 players. Mafia 2 had a whopping 132 players!

What happened to 60 people games? That sounds epic... 132 players... pretty easy to lurk though and hell to mod i'd imagine... I assume it was decided that it was an unmanageable number of players? Still I'd love to see a gargantuan setup.

Meh I think that game was really good for weeding out the chronically inactive players. You have no idea how much BC has raged about kuja's inactivity in the past.

I mean if you do much less than say 9 you start dangerously close to lylo and give very little room for any interesting roles Well I am new here, but I've been involved in another community; I'm feeling a bit lazy so mostly just copied them. These are what I've come to use as a 'ruler' for Normal games and Mini games... + Show Spoiler [Normal] + Normal games are intended to be setups with a moderate degree of complication. While they may be more complicated than the traditional roles found in newbie or basic games, hosts should use their best judgment before adding offbeat or unexpected role mechanics commonly found in specialty games. The following may never be used in a Normal game without permission from a council member. 1. A player on the replace list with a role. 2. A player not listed in the game that has an effect on the game. 3. A role with no feasible win condition. (A neutral that cannot win with town or mafia, and has no kills, for example.) 4. A role that may VOTE after death. Please confirm any post-death abilities with a reviewer even if they are not vote-related. 5. The mod having a role. These are generally metagame roles, which have been restricted due to unplayability, infeasibility, or the fact that the average normal game should not require its players to expect such twists that they might from a Specialty game. + Show Spoiler [Specialty] + Specialty games are designed to give hosts a free hand to create new and innovative game mechanics. To sign up to Host a special game, you must: 1. Have a game setup finished or near finished. 2. Submit the setup to a council member for review/balancing. 3. Have participated in three complete games. + Show Spoiler [Mini] + Mini game queue is for setups with 12 or fewer players. Any level of complication or simplicity is acceptable. + Show Spoiler [Basic] + Basic games are the simplest level of design. Players should expect traditional mafia roles with very little embellishment. Basic games are an excellent place to work on mastering behavioral analysis techniques. While new players are always welcome to join other game types, basic games provide a simple, uncomplicated introduction to the fundamentals of the game. With game limits of: We run 2 Normal, 2 Mini, 1 Specialty, 1 Fast-Track, and 1 Player's Choice game at any given time. Basic games are run according to demand. And players limited to 3 games at once; though most opt for 1, max 2.

ITW knew about the situation, he just wasn't around and the mods saw all of the smurf accounts and jumped to conclusions. It could have happened just as easily with a dedicated mafia forum moderator. For example, if I had been a staff member during that time (which I only mention because of earlier suggestions in this thread), I wouldn't have noticed the situation until after RoL got banned. And then RoL still would have needed an admin to step in and sort everything out. QuickStriker's passive agressive semi-martyrdom is probably a better example of why it might be nice to have a moderator read this forum more often.

And then RoL still would have needed an admin to step in and sort everything out. QuickStriker's passive agressive semi-martyrdom is probably a better example of why it might be nice to have a moderator read this forum more often. Well what would happen is that RoL/Random person #1 would tell you he/she wants to start a game with smurf accounts. You would then open up a thread in the MiR Forum explaining what will be happening (RoL/#1 making smurf accounts for a game). After leaving it open for like 2 or 3 days I'm pretty sure most of the mods will have seen it and then at that time you can tell RoL/#1 it's ok for him to start doing stuff and that way problems will be less likely to occur. Also, this makes it so that the mods can't just be like "You're a dumbass, communicate more" when clearly RoL PMed ITW about it already and also posted a post in the sign up thread about it so he did communicate. Not to mention the whole BM/QS situation could have been a bit less messy. Also, since we just opened up signups and a flood of newbies will be coming in, I feel like we need some sort of actual mod to deal with the unforeseeable problems that might arise. Also I'm sure sometimes someone will do something stupid outside the mafia forum that gets them temp banned and then they mess up a game. I remember someone did it once as Red Mafia so that he could be inactive for a few days and divert heat off of himself. The mod would make them unbanned on the mafia forums itself can't they? Just like how people can be banned from just one section of the site? At the end of the day I'd rather have someone who actually interacts with the people in the subforum moderating everything involving it than someone sent from above.
