Wazzzzup :D So i said in my first post , i am lot into VFX and editing but still a beginner.. But i try to practise as much as possible.. But the one thing that got me into this world is game i am prety sure everyone has heard of.. DotA. DotA is a RTS (team game )with a bit more action involved. Teamwork is very important and almost always wins vs individual skill. Combine both and you have a perfect team. But the game is designed in such a way that you can always say that was a very nice game , but all the excitement and WTF HOW DID HE DO THAT is contained inside a few seconds. And that is the reason why DotA has sooooo many movies (some good some bad some OMGGGGGGGG). So i used to be a pretty good player (don't want to blow my own horn, but i was awesome) and decided to make a movie. I will post my 2 movies in the end of this blog, but let me get to the main goal of this.. SC2 has such a huge community , and i was very surprised to see that there are hardly any movies at all.. Maybe the bratok one with 3-4 scenes but still... So i said i would try and make one , with scened from replays across the web. But soon i understood why there were hardly any.. A sc2 game can be exciting from beginning to end , without having <<scenes>>. what i mean by that is that a game can have perfect defend , macro, drops etc and turn out to be great entertainment. But it is very hard to extract 3-10 seconds of the game and get the viewer excited! So do you think it is possible ? I thought that cheeses..nukes... Archon toilets..crazy micro and funny fails maybe the material i am looking for but i am not sure if the higher ranked players are gonna be impressed by such stuff (well i kinda simplified this , but there is a lot of thought behind the last sentence :D ) Can you give me your opinion ? Tell me what you would like to see in a SC2 movie?!
As for DotA i will post a great movie.. and then one of my own.. but i want you to know it was the first time i actually used an editing programm.. Good :
I truly believe this kind of scene is possible in SC2 as well, but I don't really follow the SC2 scene at all, so maybe I am mistaken. However, I can definitely visualize how micro moves that involve force fields, blink, Terran drops/banshees, fungal thingies (lol) can be awe-inducing. Maybe someone is more knowledgeable and can find a video, or maybe the SC2 scene just needs a little more time.
IMO, those DotA vids have been over-edited and do not appeal to non-hardcore DotA players simply because the average viewer won't have a clue what's going on.
On the other hand, the SC1 vid is pretty clear - there's storms and they kill stuff.
But though it may not be as 10 second friendly as dota it's a hell of a lot more fun to watch an entire game. And also the thing that makes dota player good a re thing you can see clearly like a good arrow or good aim with nevermore but in starcraft though it's a lot more individual skill involved it doesn't show in such epic moments so. I'd definitely say it's less "frag movie" friendly.

These type of videos are not made to draw people to the community and because the community understands what's happening in those video, they are awesome.
I do agree that Starcraft 2 needs more movies like these. The game has been out long enough for anyone on this site to understand what's going.
Here is one, although it might not have the best representation of skill and I disagree with some of the angles used, it's pretty well done.
