In my opinion they aren't showing their 'love' for the game, which they claim to love so much. When I deal with things/people I love I sure as hell think before I speak 100% of the time, verses snap announcing I will stop casting all content from one game right after a mishap. That's just how I feel about it. edit: replaced 'rage' with 'snap' for more respectful tone =) edit 2: Oops state of the game lied to me. oh well User was warned for spreading misinformation.

I do like casters like artosis better, allthough I think day9 is a bit over the top and sometimes drowns the actual game with small details thats no hardcore gamer needs to hear "every game". Alltough I think my statement is not aimed towards the crowd you are nameing: It's more of the NA casual player that incontrol etc have had an great influence on.

Q : Why does GOM keep changing casters for Code A? A : Some people have claimed we are running a 'beta' test for casters in Code A. This in a sense is true. This is the final procedure for selecting casters for Code A. We need to test them out in actual matches and see the reaction. We plan to try out few more casters over next few seasons. So if one caster stops showing up after a season it does not mean he or she is fired. It just means it's next candidate's turn for the try out. I know from my experience that everytime we make some changes people freak out but without changes there can be no improvement. Q : Why make changes so suddenly? Early notifiaction would be nice. A: I agree and it's not something we do on purpose. These candidates need to prepare and fly to Korea for the try out. It requires lot of planning on time and money. Therefore, most of the time it is uncertain until the last moment whether they can actually come and even then it is unsure on which day they will be able to cast as they need to adjust to time difference, get rest, settle the payment, practice, etc. Q : I watch GSL because of Tastosis. Why can't they cast everything? A : If you really claim you are Tastosis fan and care for them, you surely must understand they need rest. Casting 4~8 matches 6 days a week is just to stressful for anybody. They have asked us if we can hire additional casters for months and as much as we wanted to oblige, getting new global caster to Korea is not an easy process(expenses, visa, etc). I for one feel Nick and Dan deserve to rest after all their hard working and I am sure their casting will improve with such rest. Q : I know casters that are tons better than the ones casting now. Why did GOM choose these people? A : We chose the candidates among hundreds of people who applied for the job. There are many factors that need to be considered in such process. It is one thing to cast in one's private stream and another thing to cast live in front of a camera, in a different country. Therefore it is not just knowledge and speaking ability that are important. Source: http://www.gomtv.net/2011gslsponsors2/forum/62361

When people talk about the success and popularity of someone like TB or Husky they completely ignore the fact that they appeal to the Youtube generation mostly because they provide free entertainment and instant gratification. I'll put on the wankhat for a moment and say that they basically fill the role of bad daytime TV, offering imagined kinship and much needed distraction. The GSL, or any other top level SC2 tournament for that matter, doesn't really need that. Hiring someone like TB would just look stupid and lazy, or just plain cynical. It wouldn't open up the SC2 pro scene to a whole new audience, but it would make Fuckslitsgate look like something people reacted rationally and calmly to. User was warned for this post

Christ that's a bit harsh, isn't it? Besides (correct me if I'm wrong) but I'm pretty sure TB has stated a few times that he has no interest in casting GSL.

Wrong, I am a casual viewer and pay the price to watch the vods. As for the rest of your post, I won't comment on that, that's below my level.

You think they can live off a code a salary working what 3 days a week? Only saving grace for them is they get to stay in the gom house for free. Therefore, only the less known casters who want more exposure are applying for the spot. you are acting like any one with a popular YouTube channel can just be like hey Gom I'm here. no gom asks them for interviews and all that. doas channel is not super popular yet he is casting because the company chooses not the perspective employee.

Wrong, I am a casual viewer and pay the price to watch the vods. I put the quotation marks around "casual viewer" because it's a vague term that's thrown around a lot. The point I'm trying to get across is that I believe that Youtube subscribers won't carry over in any significant numbers to something that's based around subscription fees and streams that only air once a day.
