Most of people on Teamliquid and on other SC2 communities, were questioning current choice for Code A casters made by GOMTV. Here comes greatest Korean troll I have seen in my life, John, in this interview explaining the reasoning behind picks and future plans about possibly new casters. Also, Code A casters received quite a bit of criticism from community, what do you think of current choice?
Q : I know casters that are tons better than the ones casting now. Why did GOM choose these people?
A : We chose the candidates among hundreds of people who applied for the job. There are many factors that need to be considered in such process. It is one thing to cast in one's private stream and another thing to cast live in front of a camera, in a different country. Therefore it is not just knowledge and speaking ability that are important.
It's probably a number of factors, like willingness and ability to move to South Korea ASAP, plus being good in front of a camera. A lot of the youtube casters spend hours reviewing replays and editing their casts but would be horrible live.
In my opinion, someone who is knowledgeable about the game and its mechanics while also has a sense of humour AND who can cast on first try, will be a great choice. It's really hard to find a person like that but veterans of casting will be a perfect choice. I am a big fan of TotalBiscuit, he can bring completely new audience into starcraft 2 scene.

I think this is a really important point. As the new caster (I've forgotten his name) said during his first series, casting is a lot harder than it looks. Tasteosis make it look easy, but what they're doing is extremely challenging, and doesn't require exactly the same skill set as VOD production, where you can review a replay, edit multiple takes together or just stop and try again if you make a mistake, and above all where you can sit in the safety of your own home instead of in front of a camera representing a live audience of tens of thousands, knowing that every mistake you make will spawn another page of hate and vitriol on TL.
These guys are giving their best for the community. Let's have a little heart and give them a chance to succeed.

Both code A casters have more knowledge and a better sounding voice than TotalBiscuit.

He said TotalBiscuit! Fast! Flame the Biscuit because he has too much viewer and that makes us angry !
Changing casters when you already made them come to korea, which is like the freeking dark hole of the univers far far away, is pretty hard. I hope they keep Kelly, I like her since the artosis high five.

knowledgeable? totalbiscuit?
What do you mean...He moved up from bronze to silver. He's fully qualified now.
nothing will beat tastosis <3 But I think gom is doing a good job, kelly's accent is tolerable and erik is good it would have been a travesty if they hired someone who doesnt have a good knowledge of the game -_-
Both of the new casters for Code A are great. At first I was sad we would be losing Tastosis, and even contemplated not watching the Code A games. I'm glad I was wrong, both Doa and Kelly are friggin awesome!
You also have to remember that it's not worth it for the more well known casters to go to korea for code a for financial reasons. You think they can live off a code a salary working what 3 days a week? Only saving grace for them is they get to stay in the gom house for free. Therefore, only the less known casters who want more exposure are applying for the spot.

I have a friend who is platinium, play like one day a month, but is so nerd in his life that he follow the scene and know more about the game than me. There is a difference between playing (and mechanics) and knowing strategies / timings / units counter / players background / etc.
I just want another artosis- a caster who loves the shit out of the game and plays it as much as they can. Knowledge isn't too important, because as so long as the caster loves the game, knowledge will come naturally as they play and learn about the players.
Pretty good and solid interview, definitely makes some things more official and excellent response to the gross of the communities reactions. Id like to see Moletrap and DOA together. Only thing is they are both a bit of play by play? I thought I didn't care about the analysis but I do, it has to be there in some form and also be atleast interesting, doesn't have to be the sickest stuff but just new things, some talk around how it works, keeping up to date with all the builds being used, part of me feels this way because other people have shown that they really want it and need it. I previously was skeptical about that but now I agree, the thing is at what level is it gonna be good enough? so really interested to see how that balance is gonna work out.
