Even if with time they could get better, if GOM is to keep a constant rotation, their search for the best supplement to Tastosis could potentially expose Code A or whatever the new guys are put to cast to a huge fall in viewers. But I have faith they'll do their best to hire some good casters and let them grow

Maybe they could try pairing him with some of the new casters they're trying out in the future.

I didn't say that TB fits that description but he is one of the most professional caster out there and acts in a very professional manner. He is play-by-play caster, always brings excitement. He is a great dude as well, fellow reddit user . On March 08 2011 16:52 ihasaKAROT wrote: What? Surely you must be talking about another TotalBiscuit here... TB has the best voice ever. TotalBiscuit has a great voice, also have you ever noticed him saying garbage words like hmmm, or uhmmm? Never, he always thinks BEFORE saying something and only few people can do that. Day[9] together with some person that isn't necessarily "skilled" at the game but instead funny would be cool. What was the asian guys name that did a couple of casts when tasteosis was at blizzcon? He had a great casting voice and was funny. He didn't have much game knowledge but I could see that guy being a great caster given some time.

Even if tastosis' compatibility has already been proven, regardless of how you feel towards Kelly, until last night, she at least felt somewhat comfortable around Tasteless/Artosis, joking around, laughing, denying high fives and what not. Just take the first few minutes of her cast with Doa, it was incredibly awkward for both of them to not pause every five seconds, they had nothing to talk about. They guy said he had been in Korea for four days, I can understand he's still settling and all, but in all honesty he just couldn't make himself comfortable nor allow Kelly to do that. As a result, there was barely any emotion in the casting, even in the HuK vs LosirA series. As you could say, there was no "spark". Even if with time they could get better, if GOM is to keep a constant rotation, their search for the best supplement to Tastosis could potentially expose Code A or whatever the new guys are put to cast to a huge fall in viewers. The audience is fickle, making casting casters (har) a volatile business - companies don't have the luxury to fiddle around with mediocre talent just because it's available. Doa is a step in the right direction.

In a perfect world, this means in a few months, we will have seen the last of Kelly I'm also still holding out faith that Cholera returns from the dead and casts Code A with diggity and moletrap. Now that would be awesome.

but without changes there can be no improvement. QFT. The community should give the new casters some more credit. As long as GoMTV picks their code A casters fair, thus on their performance, I love to see new blood now and then. Personally I find Artosis > Tasteless > Doa > Kelly But Kelly isn't that bad, yesterday she was quite funny. But the other guys are just really good.

Since he is first and foremost an "entertaining" caster it falls under the category of "humour." And humour is very polarizing, you find it funny or you don't. Nothing wrong with that.

Knowledge of the game really is secondary attribute for a new caster compared to having a sense of humor and being able to speak fluently. The knowledge about the game and its current trends is learned pretty quickly on the job and most likely from coaching by Tastosis. Getting rid of an "accent" is not as quick and would require specialist training and this isnt something GOM could provide easily compared to game knowledge. Nothing wrong with that. I dont think humor or his accent are the deciding factors. Many people on this forum think that - because they are part of the "elite" - only deep analytical casts are good casts and that therefore they have to be opposing the entertaining play-by-play casters like TB and Husky. People think there is only one "right way" to do things, but that is not true. In the end every smart viewer will be as good as Artosis at predicting the game, but what will make a cast interesting if you are as good as the casters at it? The non-game-related stuff like the jokes and the "telling of the story of the match" (enthusiastic play-by-play). There have been days where the jokes cooked up by Tasteless and Artosis have been sooo bad (cheap) that they lowered the quality of the not so interesting games by it. Even the most knowlegeable casters can go the wrong way sometimes ... just as "the best" Starcraft progamer can have a bad day and lose to a boring "noob cheeser". I think overexposure is a key to making an eSport cast boring and having different teams for code A and code S is a good start.

If the caster knows his stuff, then I can enjoy the cast and his jokes. But if the caster keep saying nonsense about the game or limit himself at the plays by plays, then I have a hard time enjoying the cast. I can see what's happening on the screen myself, but I like to have further informations / explanations / insights. Humor is only an added bonus for me.

Everyone complains about casters and players, yet all the complainers can't cast or play very well themselves. Some people just don't appreciate the time and effort that other put into the scene for the enjoyment of others, and they would much rather be at home typing complaints into the computer instead of doing anything more constructive.
