Sigh.
At first I was all happy and cheerful about Jinro winning. I came to the Team Liquid forums, expecting to share read the LR thread and share in the joy. Instead, I see these simply disgusting stuff that's happening in this thread.
If you cheered for Jinro, if you cared for the player, please understand that what Jinro just pulled off today was very draining emotionally. Teamkill is not funny, especially consider what MC, a player who's probably still young and has a long road ahead of him. This is a player who has been there for Jinro and helped him along the way. Have some goddamn empathy people. Especially since Jinro & MC will be reading this thread.
Reading these speculations and seeing the pictures makes me ashame to be part of this community.

It makes me cringe, every fucking time. cosigned, it really makes the population here look like a bunch of kids who can do nothing about being bullied cept venting on the internet. it's fucking pathetic I also got a warning for my post. I come from Quake community so when I got into SC2 community it was almost like hitting a brick wall. I was amazed how different those communities are. The amount of shit spouting, bad mannering (whatever you want to call it) among the Quake/FPS players/admins/teammates is astounding yet no one is overreacting, pouting. I have to agree with Idra, so many people get butt hurt about things that are so trivial. Nobody is forcing you to be here. If you disagree with our moderation policies and standards, you are free to create and post on your own forum with your own rules that are less restrictive.
I don't think observing how excessive people here complain about "BM" is saying the rules are too restrictive. If anything, it's the other way around.

dont be ashamed. just take a few minutes to read through the automated ban list thread and realise that this is actually a really great community with a few bad eggs and awesome mods

Wow, that was amazing by Jinro. The Lost Temple game was a razor's edge from MC winning on that push. He was so close, but Jinro held, just barely. Then the Island's gas kicked in.
I really didn't see any comments about MC doing the first Shuttle-Collosus drop of the any GSL I can remember. I'd hoped someone would do it eventually. But it showed how much he was behind. MC's attack would have broken any other terran given the composition of his units. But Jinro's Blue-flame Hellion drops are going to become something to fear. (And he does them like right when the 2nd gets fully saturated, so it does some massive damage. Is this revenge on the world for what happened to Liquid`Tyler @ Dreamhack? hehe)
And the 2nd game was definitely Jinro learning from GSL3. He was really well prepared for the 4gate push. Held well, then harassed well with the banshee. MC definitely got tilted then run over by Jinro not getting Marauders or all that many Marines the entire game.
Now if only Jinro had deflected that drop in Game 1, he would have killed Rainbow, then we wouldn't have seen a revolution in TvP.
Now, we're for sure going to have a foreigner in Ro4. Which is awesome. But there's no MC waiting on the other side of that Ro4. We could be seeing a foreigner in the final. Can we have another Grrr?

Why is having bad taste in humor "wrong" exactly? It's wrong for you because you don't find it funny, but what place do you have to not let other people have their fun, tasteful or otherwise?
How is disagreeing with someone wrong? How is having a cordial debate wrong? It isn't. Don't you see? I'm glad to see that you have come around to see my point of view . I think you got your logic backwards sir. I was asking why is what they are doing wrong, and now you are asking why is disagreeing with you wrong. Neither the bad humor or disliking/disagreeing with the bad humor is wrong. It's the internet. True, having a civilized debate is important, but I think we can all agree that the edited pictures were done in poor taste. In poor taste, yes. That doesn't mean however that anyone can decide whether or not anyone is allowed to think it's funny. Actually yes we can? What on earth makes you think we can't decide that. Did you read the 10 commandments cause that would be a good idea. As for all the distasteful stuff going on in this topic, we haven't had time to go over it but we'll talk about what our stance will be on it. Could be a lot of bans coming up. Seeing as no mod has banned anyone for making those (in bad taste) pictures, apparently they are deemed appropriate. There's warnings all around, so it's not appropriate. Anyways, there's probably other places to take a discussion about moderation besides this thread. This should be about basking in the glow of Jinro. I phrased that badly. TL can indeed decide whether or not they're appropriate (and apparently they're not, which I think is fine). I just disagree with Nazgul's point that he or anyone else can decide what is or isn't funny, just what is or isn't allowed to be posted on TL.
You're right though, enough with the derailment. It really is a moot point anyway because I personally think those pictures weren't remotely funny and this thread should indeed be about Jinro's achievement.
I personally just hope MC's confidence isn't hurt too much, he's one of the if not the only P player who has actually impressed me as much as some of the Z/T heroes. I hope he's back to his cocky self in GSL5 so he can destroy lesser beings again.

Take for example the people complaining about the picture of jinro in MC's booth. Some of them are calling for bans or requesting the mods to 'deal with it'. I mean, that's not anything different than all those muslims going berserk over some cartoon in the newspapers. To me, it's just mind boggling to find these type of people on a SC2 gaming site. A place were the hardcore type of gamer goes to, you know, and if anything, you'd think they would be able to take a joke, no? It's...I don't know. I just don't understand this.
It's in extremely poor taste, and the wild accusations of match fixing are complete bullshit.
Most of the "hardcore gamers" on this site are in their mid twenties to mid thirties. In other words more likely to understand that there's more to life than being a giant douchebag.
ETA: Jinro made a shocking comeback that will hopefully go down in the Annals of Team Liquid. You just need to hire someone named Croaker.

Is it even possible to avoid this if you decide to have group stage following a group stage?
Hm....
You have 8 groups
AAAA BBBB CCCC DDDD EEEE FFFF GGGG HHHH
Two player from each advance to the next 4 groups.
1. ABCD
With A and B being the first place winners of AAAA and BBBB, and C and D being the second place winners of CCCC and DDDD
2. ABCD
2nd place A and B, first place C and D
3. EFGH 4. EFGH
Same concept as the ABCD groups
Then you seed the round of 4 like this.
Group 1 1st place versus Group 3 2nd place Group 2 1st place versus group 4 2nd place.
But that's some kind of funky seeding, so it's probably not worth it.

haha, that is funny.
Why are so many people saying MC fixed the game, why on earth would the guy who thinks he is the best player in the world throw games where money is at stake!!!
I wanted MC to win this whole thing but im just as happy a foreigner got a little bit further!! Shame we are only going to get one in the final 4 though

Speaking of not having class, I'm enjoying that ending song for Code S. Didn't think I'd ever be okay with something made by a boy band. I'm not sure if you people understood Jinro's gesture. Jinro and MC are good friends as we found out in GSL3. It's pretty customary for players who are friends to shake hands or some kind of friendly gesture immediately after the game. So, when Jinro went to do that, he entered MC's booth not realizing how distraught MC was. What I saw was someone realizing his friend was upset and tried to give him a pat on the back, and I imagine he said some consoling words or good game or something. You can clearly tell from his interviews how sad he was that he knocked out oGsEnsnare in the previous round, and he clearly feels the same about MC.

Holly crap, I had suspicion that MC will be eliminated and MKP will advance together with Jinro and it really happened!

"I guess they didn't know that that MinChul's nickname in the korean community for SC1 was "suicide toss." In sc1 before one of his matches he went up to the camera and took his index finger and did the neck slice motion. Then he lost looking like a complete fool. Hence the term suicide toss was coined."
Was looking through the ogsMC fanclub thread, and I uncovered this. Kind of ironic... He did the same exact thing before he lost to Jinro. Must be coming back to him....

wtf shaking hands is like standard procedure in so many sports (football, tennis), yes it would have been nicer for MC to wait but it's not exactly with bad intentions just trying to be good manner
weird people today

Jesus Christ. Nobody is kicking anybody when he's down. It's a picture intending to be funny. It doesn't have to do with the actual interaction at all. IT'S MADE UP!
Don't you people understand the concept of parody?

Is it even possible to avoid this if you decide to have group stage following a group stage? You don't necessarily have to have a linear draw progression out of the R16 I don't think there'd be anything wrong with something like: top half of bracket winner group A vs r/u group D winner group B vs r/u group C bottom half of bracket winner group C vs r/u group B winner group D vs r/u group A You can still maintain a winner meets runner up progression, but just by swapping sides of the bracket you avoid direct rematches. exactly .. or even A vs C B vs D is ok.
With this current GOM set up .. Marine King and Jinro have a chance to meet again in the Semis or even Idra vs Nada. So .. hope it changes next season. We will have to make do with it for now.
Meeting group stage opponents again is best in the finals. And the different matchups also make the tournament even more interesting than it is now.

couldn't help myself
I don't know why people think it was BM. It was most definitely an act of Good Manner.
And lo did Jinro bring unto MC the Manner. And unto MC the Manner was good.

Ok, this one actually made me laugh
