I thought people who whined about BM thought MC was the one with "le BM" because he didn't turn around to shake Jinro's hand or some bullshit?

It's nonsense anyway. Bleh

I don't know why people think it was BM. It was most definitely an act of Good Manner.

And lo did Jinro bring unto MC the Manner. And unto MC the Manner was good.

What is the most important from today's games is that Jinro clearly showed that you actually can go mech against a protoss (the very best), not make a single marauder and still play a beautiful game and win. It reminded me of recent Day9 daily with TLO (as T) against WhiteRa who went mass viking, banshees and ravens accompanied by marines. He said that sometimes you have player like TLO who will try something else, something which seems like a mistake and find out that it actually works fine. The same thing Jinro did today. Today is definitely one of those days when we see Starcraft 2 metagames evolving in PvT.

Beautiful games today.

wtf shaking hands is like standard procedure in so many sports (football, tennis), yes it would have been nicer for MC to wait but it's not exactly with bad intentions just trying to be good manner

weird people today

Exactly that, in almost every sport thats not solely based on physical performance it is customary to shake hands with your oponent, both before and after the match. Refusing to do that is often seen as sign of bad manner. Or perhaprs as signe of grudge existing between players. When Topalov and Kramnik refused to shake hands in their mtach (chess) it was a big deal, as was seen as lack of sportmanship. Same goes for many other sports, snooker, bridge, go hell almost everywhere. If You ask me it should be the same in sc2.

Why did they play so early? Fuck, I missed all the games.
Q. You've been criticized for using cheesy builds in the past, but now people are saying that you've played some good games today. A. I'm glad that they think that way, but that won't stop me from using cheesy builds.(oGsHyperdub)

man fuck work, if only I was at home I could have watched this
I don't think I've ever wished my opponent good luck prior to a game. When I play, I play to win. I hope every opponent I ever have is cursed with fucking terrible luck. I hope they're stuck playing underneath a stepladder with a black cat in attendance a

Those two games weren't really good indications of TvP mech viability. The first game MC was behind after that disastrous first attack. He outmacroed MC on 3 bases vs 2. 2nd game was also completely disastrous. ALL his phoenixes died in 2 seconds to thors because they were clumped. Then he pulled out half of his ground army and so his carriers get completely decimated. Jinro said himself meching in TvP depends heavily on map.

I even made a thread on GOM site to make a chart or some Brackets tab. The Schedule tab isn't enough to give a comprehensive view of the groups and the progression of the tournament.

Yup I was checking that list out, it sure looks like they kept both halves fairly segregated, and could have at LEAST stopped double jeopardy until the Round of 4, too bad, hopefully they fix this for next season

Ya, it sucks they didn't arrange the ro8 pairings to not have rematches, but at least there will be a foreigner in the ro4.

Is it even possible to avoid this if you decide to have group stage following a group stage?

Hm....

You have 8 groups

AAAA
BBBB
CCCC
DDDD
EEEE
FFFF
GGGG
HHHH

Two player from each advance to the next 4 groups.

1. ABCD

With A and B being the first place winners of AAAA and BBBB, and C and D being the second place winners of CCCC and DDDD

2. ABCD

2nd place A and B, first place C and D

3. EFGH
4. EFGH

Same concept as the ABCD groups

Then you seed the round of 4 like this.

Group 1 1st place versus Group 3 2nd place
Group 2 1st place versus group 4 2nd place.

But that's some kind of funky seeding, so it's probably not worth it.

I tried to make a flowchart of it with my amazing paint skills:

If you have A16 winner v C16 2nd, B16 winner v D16 2nd, C16 winner v B16 2nd, and D16 winner v A16 2nd, I think you can avoid rematches between players then.

Good to see Jinro picking up where TLO left off. I remember that game against Sangho where he went Thors+Strike Cannons, but got them caught out front in a choke and chewed through by mass Immortal. Looks like it can work afterall.

I feel for MC. He looked absolutely devastated after that loss. Especially since he's a younger guy. I hope it won't drag him down at all though, he's to talented for that. I actually feel sorry for Jinro as well. You could see the happiness in his face, but he also obviously didn't really enjoy it as much as he should have and he deserved to. It's like he wondered if he should turn left or right.

But honestly I prefer to look at this simply. The best Terran in Korea (my opinion) beat the best Protoss in Korea (my opinion). That's it. Any other day, or night, it could have been the exact opposite story. Shit happens.

Q. ( Korean Interviewer ) Did you expect the carriers?

A. ( Jinro ) I think the carrier itself is a decent unit. It's underrated by many people, but it's actually quite good against Terran mech.

I agree ... If Jinro didn't scout the Fleet Beacon and made a ton of Vikings in time .. I doubt the Mech Push would have been as devastating as it was. I'm not saying MC would have won outright but in the game on Scrap Station ... the Carriers didn't even get a chance to fight. MC was in the Phase of building an army when Jinro pushed ( together with Vikings ) and this obviously won the game. And if it were any other Protoss I doubt they would have counter attacked and made a new base at the Gold.

Just wanted to put this out their to the people making fun of MC going Carriers. They do well against Mech Terran without vikings and even when there are vikings but are low in number.

I wonder Jinro's mech play would still be effective in larger and more open maps against P, since those are the maps GSL will use next season.

Also don't forget one of the reasons that made the strat viable is close base distance (close positions on LT, rocks across the middle on Scrap) making the T's slow units' push faster than say if it's a cross spawn on Shakura

BTW, Koreans aren't too kind toward MC's attitude today, judging from PlayXP posts. Especially considering:

1. How Jinro treated him in last season
2. How MC behaved after he beat Rainbow (cut-throat gesture)

Koreans love Jinro for his manners, humility, and awesome games he provides. On the other hand some folks have been getting fed up with MC's arrogance.

Because people get too serious about esports. I take IdrA's position, with everyone so worried about being nice and mannered it gets boring because all the interviews play the exact same and no one says what they really think. I'm not suggesting that everyone rage Idra style, but there's nothing wrong with some MC style swagger, I really appreciated it and thought he could back it up; it's just that Jinro's also really good.

This is what I'm talking about. The rest of the pictures was simply not funny with 3 seconds of effort put into them. This I have no problem with even if I don't necessarily find it funny.
