today, after quite a long time, a new (gamechanging) patch is coming out... the full list can be found on the bfbc2blog what is probably the most interesting thing about it is that basically the weaponhandling aswell as the hitboxes and damage model are gonna be changed which should have a significant impact on the gameplay...(and finally the bugged insignias got fixed ) also the dlc "vietnam" will be released in about 40 days...for 12.99$ a new trailer aswell as some new screenshots got posted on bfbc2 official oh and i almost forgot...people who bought the new medal of honor will get the beta access to battlefield 3 now it's nothing really bfbc2 related but still interesting i bought bfbc2 on steam so the patch will be applied automatically there... actually i don't know if anyone is still playing here but after i read that some stuff - which kinda bothered quite a lot people (including me) - are gonna be fixed, i immediately installed the game yesterday and played some games after a break of almost six months...and i knew why i bought that game in first place - it's really fun! well...if anyone is interested in some action...just pm me

and finally a patch which fixed some smaller but still annoying stuff like some insignias not getting...and receiving damage of the mcom's edit: almost forgot the map pack #7 which is the first real map pack i guess, since it's the first one with actual new maps

IMO it's the best multiplayer FPS since at least TF2. it's really really good.

Is this worth picking up in my position, or should I just get in line and wait for Battlefield 3? if you enjoyed bf2 and never really liked cod then bfbc2 is probably your game! although there are also quite a few differences between bfbc2 and bf2... in case you wanna stay straight at a very bf2 similar game (which is in my oppinion not even worth it's own game, or even called "new game") then you should just wait for bf play4free since it's release is pretty soon and bf3 will most likely take years before it becomes released! however i would really recommand bfbc2! it's really a style of gameplay you don't see in many games, it has a lot of cool (and at the very release genrebreaking new features) but it still feels like a bf game... the latest patches really fixed what needed to be fixed and overall it's a quite balanced game (in terms of gameplay aswell as graphics). story is not really the best of the best but i guess nobody really plays a bf title for the singleplayer edit: also on steam is a deal where you get it with the new specact dlc and the upcoming vietnam addon cheaper than usual

So far it's a decent game; the SP could have lasted longer than only a few hours but who cares. Multiplayer is alright, but I don't get the logic behind snipers and assault starting with decent weapons, but engineers being unable to repair and medics being unable to heal until a certain level of experience. I realize it's not that much and will be done in a couple of games, but it's frustrating joining as a medic only to be a sub-par assault support with a shitty gun. Regarding advice for starters, is there anything to add to this thread I found on the official BFBC2 forums?

This site is pretty essential to getting to know the game well. All stats you need to know are in there.

Actually the medic guns are really powerful at mid-long distans as long as you don't spray it, and the submachineguns are really scary at short-mid. Even the lower and higher tier guns are about equal, PKM for example has the highest dmg of all MGs. All the guns are balanced pretty well so its all about how you use them.
