Nicotine patches as a gift sound is iffy in my opinion. I bought some for my dad and he didn't even touch the box... So I'd make sure the friend wanted to quit/not smoke for that time frame before you invested in it. It's proven to help the nicotine craving but I've heard more people quiting cold turkey than by using other methods.

Maybe try nicotine gum instead of patches... not sure if he'll use the patches in replacement of smoking, but gum is gum...
|
What about a vapor cigarette? Alot healthier for your friend and he can smoke it anywhere
|
Nawp. Gums make smoking taste like shit so.. all the smokers I know just quit chewing the gum. 2ez. This is a terrible gift idea. Buy him some striped toe socks... yeah.. best gift.
|
I'd find a gift of nicotine patches pretty insulting, unless I'd expressed the desire to quit.
|
nicotine patches would be a really insensitive gift
|
I think he's trying to help his friend secretly get his fix around his parents which is a bro thing... But not as bro as giving your bro striped toe socks bro.
|
lmao yeah I'd never do that either. from my experience, smokers don't want to be told they need to quit in any which way.
well, it's a nice idea though. as for myself, I never used any of that stuff to quit. cold turkey works, if you truly understand the importance of quitting and WANT to quit.
feel it out though man, we don't really know your friends, if you think it would help, do it.

Nicotine gum is different from chewing gum. You bite it then suck on it. Treating it like regular gum has almost no effect.
Anyway, patches are expensive as hell. I suggest just getting him some air freshener.

Give him some cold turkey instead.

weed. its cheaper, healthier, and better for you

why would you buy patches? if you want nicotine then buy cigarettes. you and the rest of the consumers are tricked. the only way to stop smoking is to WANT TO STOP INGESTING NICOTINE. if you buy patches then you are still supporting tobacco companies (who own most of the patch companies..duh)

You can be on nicotine patches the rest of your life and not smoke? Seems like you have been tricked my friend.
I'm also pretty sure smokers and/or smokers who want to quit also don't give a god damn if they are supporting tobacco companies.
To the OP: Commendable intentions, terrible idea. Smoking isn't just about nicotine. SMOKING IS SERIOUSLY ENJOYABLE. Your idea is like buying alcohol injections for a wine connoisseur... sure he might miss the alcohol but you can't replace his precious wines...
The best present you could give him is forcing him to quit smoking! So put this idea out of your head entirely.
Sorry I can't recommend something you SHOULD get him, someone else might help you out there.
But please, please, PLEASE!
Do not buy him anything smoking/nicotine related.

as a smoker, if a friend bought me nicotine patches as a gift, i wouldnt be offended, but i would think this was a really really shitty gift.

Swedish snus! I'd say it's a much cooler gift than nicotine patches at least and it's pretty much just the nicotine in the snus that's bad for you, none of that other bad stuff you get from smoking.
Ps. The smaller versions are almost completely undetectable, so he can snus as much as he wants kkk.

If you do get him patches, make sure he knows how to use them. My dumb ass twin brother ran out of spots to put them that weren't visible, 'cuz he thought you couldn't put them on the same spot more than once a week, not just consecutively. So... He put one on his chest, right over his heart lol. After passing out, Nicotine overdose and a hospital trip later, he just went back to smoking regularly.
